Well, since the update yesterday, my launcher is not working. I can't repair it, i tried a variety of suggestions from tech support that didn't work. I even tried uninstalling and installing, but i get the same error upon trying to install. All of the exceptions are there in my firewall and anti virus. My internet is fine, everything is working on my end. Not sure what else to do.

You can run from the ESO.exe which bypasses the launcher

    C:\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client

    Should be in there somewhere

I tried that, it won't let me. When i go to sign in it tells me i am attempting to run an older version of the game and that i have to update it. Well if i could update it i would lol. Been on hold over the phone for a half hour now, from what i have read could take hours to get anyone. This is some *** poor customer service. I could understand if it was free to play, but i expect more for paid subscription.

Hey, @djhuff23b14_ESO. We are looking into the patch manifest issues that some players have been seeing. @ZOS_MollyH‌ posted some basic troubleshooting steps. If these steps do not work for you, please don't hesitate to reply here with the name of your ISP. We will be happy to put you in touch with our Support Team.

Greetings! For those of you who started experiencing this issue between Wednesday, October 8 and now, could you please let us know your ISP so we can further investigate this issue?

There are a couple of troubleshooting steps we can recommend at this time to refresh how your system is connecting to our patcher and launcher servers.
    Spoiler
To Flush DNS on a PC:
    •Click on the Start button
•Type cmd in the Start Menu
•Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
•Type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter
•If it was successful, you will see the message "Windows IP configuration successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache"
•Power cycle the router to clear the cache so that it doesn't store the bad route

To renew your IP address and flush DNS on a Mac:

To renew your IP address use the following steps:
    •Select Apple menu>System preferences>Network.
    •Select active connection.
    •Open advanced menu.
•Click Renew DHCP Lease. (this may take some time)

To flush DNS Please use the following steps:
•Click 'Go' on the top bar while in finder.
    •Select Utilities>Terminal.
    •Type the command "dscacheutil -flushcache"

    To powercycle your home network:

    1. Turn off the router by unplugging it. If you have a modem and router in one device, turn it off then proceed to step 3.
    2. Turn off the DSL or cable modem for three minutes.

Note: Some modems are equipped with a backup battery. If your modem have one, please remove the backup battery to completely turn off your modem. For common cable modems equipped with backup batteries, please see Performing a full reset of cable modem with battery backup

    3. Turn off all computers attached to your network.
    4. Turn on the DSL or cable modem first and let it boot. Let it complete its connection to your ISP before proceeding to the next step. If you have a modem and router in one device, proceed to step 6 after it connects to your ISP.
    5. Once the modem completes the connection to your ISP, plug in the router. Let it complete its power on test before proceeding to the next step
    6. Restart your computers.

If you are still unable to connect to the launcher properly afterwards after performing the above steps, please either post your customer support ticket number here or send me a PM.

If you do not yet have a support ticket placed with us regarding this issue, please let us know and we will be happy to create one for you. Our customer support team will be happy to reach out to you with more individualized steps to follow and to gather some information.

Bluestreak is my ISP, it is located in Waldo county Maine. I didn't have this issue up until the last patch. My launcher wouldn't connect to download. A link was sent to me http://launcher.bethesda.net/Bethesda.net_Launcher/Bethesda.net_Launcher.patchmanifest, and it just keeps telling me the site is busy and taking too long to respond. I have all the appropriate ports open on my router. As i said the game was working fine until the update. I completely uninstalled the game, removed every single trace of it on my computer, and tried a re-install. Now the game won't even install! It just freezes, and the download won't start. I am about ready to just cancel my sub and say the heck with it. Especially when stuff like this seems to happen after updates.

It's been 24 hours and I still can't get the patcher to get past the "loading.... " part on my windows 8 machine that runs ESO like a champ. A machine at a different location running XP is working fine though but is so old ESO is all but unplayable.

I've tried everything that's been suggested including port forwarding, flushing DNS, etc, etc.

Hello! Thank you all for the information, and we will be sure to have one of our Support Team reach out to continue troubleshooting and request the needed information via your tickets.

In the meantime, manually changing your hosts file has helped resolve this for a few of our players experiencing this problem. It's worth a try if you're waiting to hear from Support!

To do so, please try the following:

    1. Open the Run menu by pressing the Windows key and R
    2. Type in the following command to the runbox: notepad c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
    3. Once Notepad has opened the file, search for the line that contains the following information:
    ##.##.##.## launcher.bethesda.net
Please note that the # represents the numbers of the direct IP Address
    4. Delete that entire line from the Hosts file
    5. Save the changes but do NOT use "Save As" because this will change the Hosts file's extension

Thanks, and please let us know if it helps resolve this for you!

This isn't working for me. I run the command and delete that line in the hosts file, but when I try to select Save, Notepad throws up a popup window at me saying "Cannot create the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file. Make sure that the path and file name are correct". Then the Save As window opens up, giving me the option to Save As, which I'm not supposed to do.

    Hey there @Donarion,

Please ensure that the host file is not set to read only, as this will prevent you from saving the document. To do this, head to the host file location, right click on the host file, and choose Properties. At the bottom, there will be a check box for "Read Only." Ensure that this is disabled. This will require administrative privileges on your computer.
