If there were no racial perks, which race would you choose for a Dark Knight type character?

If racial bonuses did not exist, or if they could be chosen as a type of "Role Perk Sets" with any race, what would be your preferred race for a Dark Knight type character?

What does Dark Knight mean?

Basically an archetypical Dragon Knight/Warrior, but as classes and roles are separate in ESO, a role has to be described instead:

- Wears (mostly) heavy armor
- Uses melee weaponry
- Uses "dark magic" (e.g. Blood) both to deal damage and heal mostly him/herself

If you prefer more than one race for this role, please choose the one you like the most. If you cannot decide, choose one of them and comment on the other.

Unfortunately there are ten possible poll options and ten races, so there is no space for a squirrel option. If you just want to see the results, you will still have to vote for a race.

Also, note that for this poll it does not matter if you have access to the imperial race. If you like Imperials best, vote for them even if you can't play one.

I hope you guys enjoy this poll. I am eager to see the results.

See (hopefully) the first comment for additional information.

    Dunmer
With the culture of using and abusing slaves, and worshipping Daedra, the Dunmer seem to be the best suited.

Mind you, I'm not convinced that the Dark Knight vibe suits the Elder Scrolls universe.

As polls cannot be edited, but of course have to be posted before they can be linked, there was no way to link to the other three polls on the subject within the poll text. Here is the complete set:

My choice comes from a D&D character who was an Orc Blackguard. I realize that Orcish society in greyhawk/forgotten realms is different than that from Orsimer society, however I can see Orsimer adventurers as Mercenaries who's abilities and tribal magic could be seen as "dark" or "primal" by civilization.

Lore-wise, there is no "blood magic" a'la Dragon Age, but there are certainly dark magics that you could consider your character as being drawn into. I actually think the Altmer would be a good choice, as they are more magically-inclined, while nevertheless having a history of using heavy armor and melee weapons. Moreover, Mannimarco is an obvious example of some of them engaging in dark arts during this period of time, though an individual of any race could be doing so. Yet, if you are gong for some ancient, forbidden dark magic in the form of "blood magic" in Elder Scrolls, dissident Altmer would be more likely to know about it.

The Dunmer are a choice, but I don't think they necessarily carry the same dark connotations that "dark" elves carry in other games. They are by no means inherently evil, and are very much a culture focused on honor, piety, and other principles commonly understood as virtuous. The Dunmer in this era do not worship Daedra, but rather the Tribunal, and they are opposed to the more clearly evil daedra in the form of the House of Troubles. A dissident Dunmer could certainly be a "dark knight", though.

The Argonians worship the Hist, which have a connection to Sithis who, if any divine is, is the closest to an evil divine entity (arguably).

Obviously, a dissident of any race could be a dark knight of sorts, so you should really just pick whichever you like the best.

With no passives to worry about , breton for sure.

Also , bretons were clearly made with the medieval europe in mind , which means you cant get a race more attuned to knights then this heh.

My first choice is Nord because I associate them most with the rough not-so-chivalrous type of Warrior/Knight.

I'd go Imperial. After all, they are a race of people eradicated from their province, constantly at war, so it seems normal they would turn to blood magick and such.

    Nord.

They worshiped dragons in a time long past as well as naturally have a more warrior like culture that encourages running in with battle ax, sword, great sword....in fact, running in with just about anything that you can swing with your hand(s) is how they prefer to go.

My second choice was dunmer to the eastern-esque style and their appreciation for fire.
