"Personal" sound not working at first since 1.4.3

I think this problem is intermittent, sometimes happens, sometimes doesn't. On char login my char's sounds don't work, no horse footsteps, no spell noises, no pickaxe/ore mining sound, no axe/wood harvesting sound, but the other harvesting sounds render fine, and I hear all the other noises/sounds fine. This usually continues until another map loads, like a dungeon for instance. Sometimes when I wayshrine travel to a different wayshrine it starts working fine again, other times it continues to malfunction. Once the sound stops malfunctioning (works), it never quits again.

But here's the thing: I have an unusual sound card: Auzen X-Fi Bravura 7.1. That said, I believe they use Creative SB drivers, and what's more the symptoms point to something different than a problem with my particular sound card; not to mention this problem did not manifest until immediately after update 1.4.3. But looking at these bug reports I see no others reporting this sound malfunction. Please post if you had this happen to you, and report your soundcard type if any, please.

EDIT 9/30 (repeated below):
Just to clarify: The OP sound issues were in PvE solo (all over Tamriel), IDK about Cyrodiil.
I haven't noticed it inside a dungeon yet, the dungeon load seems to fix the prob.
And I'd guess it only happens (to me) about once in every 10 logins on the average, so it takes a lot of testing to see if it is fixed.

Followup: Ever since I did "repair" a couple of days ago all is well with the sound so far.

It will happen again been happening after first 1.4 patch. Now the launcher can't retrieve news info and doing repair still only fixes sound problems once in awhile. It is not our system's it is from patch 1.4.

    Hey there folks,

We're currently investigating the sound issues that have come up since 1.4. We appreciate your patience while a solution is researched, and we're glad to hear that the repair option is working in some cases.

Update: No, "repair" didn't fix it, 'cause it just happened again. As I said, it is intermittent, therefore it is not a "settings" problem, as that would be constant.

Having the same issue but earlier today it was working fine & had been after both 1.4.3 & 1.4.4
Now, no whistle, very very quiet hooves & Impulse sounds like a tinny, playing on a phone, version of its normal sound.
but the Winged Twilights wing beats sound fine...

And I have tested the sound card/drivers and they are fine on everything else...

Last time it happened to me I adjusted all my volumes to 100 and it went away. Hasnt happened since, might just be being lucky though.

That sounds like your sound has dropped to about 10-22Khz frequency setting - that's a setting that many games have, IDK about ESO, and it may be a setting in your sound drivers. Sounds like a prob on your end FYI.

I have the same issue as OP, and did not before 1.4.3. It seems more prevalent on my EP toons, but occasionally happens on one of my AD toons. It seems to clear up on its own as I play.

Since the patch says it only fixes "Fast travel in PvP", I suspect that it wont do anything about the login on in Reaper's March or Stonefall after being on another character, which seems to be what is happening to me.
(Have not done any PvP since this started)

but I'll post an update after you have patched the EU server!

So far all good after patch1.4.5, been in and out of game 6 to 8 times and haven't lost sound. Thanks for the fix. Just hope it lasts. :-D

Welll I am missing footsteps, horse sounds (mine - I hear other horses), wood chopping and other stuff. Yes I did try repair. This is the first time I have had these issues.

Also, this is in normal areas.

Update - it did it in Greenshade, and then Auridon, fixed itself if Grahtwood, still fixed in Auridon.

I think you are correct about the dungeon load; I first noticed it working inside a dungeon.

It just happened to me again, in Stormhold right after swapping char's, and stopped happening right after I got off my horse. I did not come from Cyrodiil, and none of my char's were there recently. It was only a short duration this time, <1min. as I rode my horse from the Stormhold stables to the crafting area.

EDIT: It just happened to me again. I had just moved things into my mules, and logged in at the Stormhold wayshrine, fast-traveled to the Alten Corimount wayshrine, and no horse sound as I rode to the tunnel leading to the Forsaken Village. I dismounted, and cast my familiars, the casting all silent, but I heard the wings of my Winged Twilight. I then silently cast my Clanfear. When I entered the tunnel my footstep sound returned.

I've just noticed this issue, also. Weapons don't make sound when I execute the attack (Oct 5) and it is intermittent. I did a /bug while in-game, and then a bit later I noticed that the sounds were back.
What's puzzling to me is that Zos_GaryA responded that the fix was in patch 1.4.5 on Sept 29. I just opened to log-in screen and noticed that my current patch was still at 1.4.4. Has 1.4.5 been released yet or not?
