Crafting (medium armour) & Fishing materials not dropping post 1.3.3

Nice colours and all but...

I notice that, as someone else pointed out, guts and crawlers are not dropping from critters - a serious problem but one that only applies to those who fish.

More serious, and needing confirmation, is that on about 20 encounters with wolf packs at lower levels while gathering crafting bits I have not had a single hide scrap drop. Normally this is a 3 out of 4 type result.

If crafters can no longer obtain lower level medium armour materials that is a big problem.

Could someone look into this please?

I can confirm no lower pelts dropping. Ran Crow's for the achievement and got zip off all the mutts in there i cacked. Hadn't noticed the crawlers.. but i have a ton of those; definitely noticed the guts... that's why i came to post.

Also, as for fishing, while it's splendidly nice that the fish actually show up in inventory now, and blues measure in at a solid 110g a piece... the whites are still 3g or so (which is fine), but the greens are showing up at a massive..... 0g.

I can also confirm that medium armor crafting materials are no longer dropping from mobs. I just went around Reaper's March killing tigers and skeevers and got nothing.

This needs to be fixed.

We want our fishing materials, and with a range of character levels I often have a need for lower level hides.

regarding the fishing bait issue.. i just made an alt lvl 3 in DC and killed some rats in town and got guts! but on my main v12 in EP i've been all over killing critters and getting no bait at all..

as for the hides i killed some dunracers in craglorn earlier today and got some shadowhide but in reapers march got none from anything...

If I had to guess I would say that fishing & medium armour material drops have been added to the standard levelled loot tables and are now only going to drop if you are near enough to the level of the thing you are killing.

I suppose it is one way to stop us complaining about medium armour builds being weak... remove the option to play them.

I'm fairly sure I remember getting some crawlers from an alchemy plant node in Coldharbor today. Plump Worms also working. So perhaps it is zone-specific? I'll keep an eye out re the hides etc...

I got plenty of hides on my level 10 Sorc in Stonefalls and every plant my alchemist harvested had some kind of bait. Maybe I was just lucky?

As I mentioned, they are not dropping from killing rats, squirrels etc. So you should get plant related drops.

Equally you will probably get hides from hide drops within your level range, it is if you are high level looking for lower level materials you will struggle.

There aren't any plant related drops for guts as they only drop from level 1 (critters) animals that have guts.

rabbits, frogs, squirrels, chickens, ...

I've checked on vet rank animals and they still don't drop guts. (wolves, bears, tigers ...)

So,
someone screwed up the loot levels for critters that should have no level requirements to start with for crawlers and guts drop. This needs a fix, asap as the alternative for lake fishing is minnows and this is not an option in my book.

Crawlers and worms still drop from Zombies so we're less screwed for foul water fishing. Ocean still the same.

Yep, guts is the only bait issue.

Lack of medium armour materials will affect more people.

I too am finding Crawlers, Plump Worms, and Worms on Alchemy harvests as before.

I suspect this is because these items are coming from resource nodes (which are not leveled - a Nirnroot in a low level zone is the same as a Nirnroot elsewhere), and not from lootable kills (which are leveled depending upon where they're killed).

They will have to fix the scraps problem. As a heavy and light guy I can go to any appropriate zone with my vr5 and get what i need for alts.
But all the medium people are screwed until this gets fixed.

Why did they have to make this change? What problem were they addressing that broke this? How does this happen? There was no outrage on the forums about people farming deer and mudcrabs.

As to worms from zombies in Coldharbor: Spent 40 minutes killing Zombies and all I got were crawlers and PLUMP WORMS which are bloody useless for fishing.

My guess is that the loot lists were altered for the collectibles aiming to stop high level players from farming low level mobs (i haven't tested this!). They will just have to edit their lists again:)

Ahh, collectibles. That is new. That doesn't excuse them but at least it gives some logic as to why this baloney occured.

It's definitely a problem with the loot tables - my new lv8 still gets Rawhide Scraps, and my lv20 gets Hide Scraps, but my v12 doesn't receive lower-leveled leather at all.

I noticed this too. I had just hit Daggerfal in Vet content before the patch and was getting guts from the rats running around the city. After the patch, nothing. No crawlers from spiders in dungeons either.

I did get crawlers and worms from zombies, and crawlers from alchemy nodes, but there does not seem to be an alternate source for guts, so this needs to be fixed.

Made an alt to get guts. when she hit level 4 the rats stopped dropping anything. Please tell me that this whole thing is an accident and that it is going to be fixed. (Soon)

I don't fish, but I do farm. I want to be able to farm lower level critters for their hide drops. I have all points invested in extracting clothing materials, and that was a good steady source of blue/purple/gold upgrade items.

Same thing - that is unintentional, and you should be able to get leather. Both these issues will be addressed. Thanks for bringing it to our attention! We'll add both of these to the Known Issues thread that's stickied at the top of the forums so you can keep tabs on the status.

so what about the darkwater rabbits in eastmarch outside fort amol? i went there with a lvl 3 character and was getting no guts from them. is this inteded on these rabbits specifically? as this was a main farming spot for guts...

If you kill an NPC 5 levels or more below you, they will not drop any loot. No trash, no armour, no coin, no guts, no leather, nada, nitch, zilch, bupcus.

i dont think this applies to veteran rank things as i am v12 and can still get loot from anything in coldharbour all the way to craglorn levels~

Oh are you one of the people messing up other people who have a quest to kill those rabbits? Go farm your rabbits in an area where there isn't a quest dependent on doing it - and timed at that!

ah well i found a better spot anyway and i'm almost done fishing so dosnt really matter~ was wondering if it was intended that they dont drop guts ever anymore~

Nope.

Critters and 5+ levels below the level of your toons still drop crafting stuff and fishing bait. At least that's how it was before the patch.
