Clannfear and Twilight Have Gone Stupid

They were both working fine until today. I added a couple of passives on summoning and now they won't attack anything. I have logged out and logged back in. I have even tried the "Y" and mouse click...nothing. They just stand there. Is there a bug with passives and the critters not working?

    Hello @Seravi,

Thank you for reporting this issue to us. Our team is aware about it and working on it.
Also, don't forget to report it directly in game with /bug.

    Thank you.

Thanks! Yes I have reported it in game as well. Maybe they just needed a rest and will be willing to fight when I play later today. :)

Oh... ok we didn't change anything with the last patch.... that was what the TESO representative said.

How in the heck do you break this piece of the code if it was working fine?

TESO has broken dragonknight and nightblade to where people are not using them or doing so with limited success - now your going to go and break the casters?

I am trying to understand how these issues are not being fixed. I had to fight with support multiple times when dark talons quit functioning correctly during the week of three patches.

It took numerous emails back and forth for them to tell me it was my system and then to have it escalated and TESO say "Oh yes it is broken and we know there is issues with it and we are working on it".

How long is this type of support going to continue as well as updates that continue to break more than it fixes?

The blunt answer here is "bad programming". The apparent lack of skill in the developers may be management related, at least to some part, but the end result is bad no matter what. The name for what they have created is "brittle code". It is unusual for a software product to be this brittle already at launch, but it is a relevant term.

This game, like any other of the same scope, is massively complex and hugely interdependent between client software, servers, server database, OS, hardware, network transport etc.

To shout out "bad programming" shows a distinct lack of education on how MMO's and any other large (huge even) program works.

The ten best programmers on the face of our planet (and below if any of them live in a basement or abandoned salt mine - etc) could have written all the sub routines and blocks of code, and the game would still have bugs because of how all these perfect little jewels interact with each other.

to quote an article online (http://news.softpedia.com/news/Steve-Ballmer-Windows-8-1-Is-Proof-That-We-Listened-and-We-Learned-366551.shtml)

Windows 8.1, with an estimated number of more than 80 millions Source lines of Code, ...

So this pretty and beautiful game world has 1/100th the number of lines of code? (random guess - cant go by file size) that would still be 800,000 lines of code.

No one person could even read all the remark statements anytime soon much less the actual code.

The answer is not 'bad programming' or bad programmers it is - like any modern application of the sort - simply too massively complex to realistically test each and every little think for each and every patch.

All things considered we should be thankful the game world is as nice and pretty as it is (although that is more the artists and map designers) and works as well as it does.

WOW has been out for 10 years, as much time and effort has been injected into it there are still bugs and issues that crop up regularly.

I dont like it when I am fighting a bug anymore then anyone else, and no one should have to be happy at finding themselves faced with a bug, just keep some perspective on it.

I'm calling BS on this one.. I have never played an MMO this buggy ever.. EVER..

Then you haven't played a proper MMO. I have played MMOs all the way back to when EQ was first released.

Something is wack with the summons critters. Last night they kept despawning and respawning on their own as I moved around. Every cave/dungeon area or house I enter and leave, they despawn and I have to spawn them again. My fps and latency were fine. Did tests to ensure there was no bottle neck in the pipe.

@ZOS_PierreL, Can you confirm something for me? My clan and twilight are respawning at random on their own. Never in combat but moving around in the area they will just respawn and it uses my magika and I didn't hit the key for them to respawn. Is this part of the bug? I've verified latency an there are no issues there an surprisingly my fps is staying where it should be so I don't see any "issues" on my side like lag that would be causing it. Just started after I added a few passives.

Also every time I go in a home, cave, dungeon, other parts of an active dungeon I am in they despawn and I have to spawn them back. No combat going on, they just go poof. Is this also part of the bug?

Just trying to figure out how to work with it until it is fixed. Thanks! :)

The passive I added: Daedric Summoning: Daedric Protection and I added Destruction Staff: Force Shock. Maybe the long loading screens account for the despawns coming out of doors and entering new areas of dungeons since they are really long after the last hot fix.

My clan has always had a tendency to poof when I went through a door or portal that required a loading screen. It wasn't 100% of the time, but enough so that any time I come out of a loading screen I always check now to see if he's still with me.

I will add this in the issue report, @Seravi. If this is a part of a bug, we will figure this out during our investigation.

    Thank you for these details.

    @Elf_Boy‌

I have worked in the technology business for 20 years and I have worked in development... this is nothing more than a sorry excuse for lazy programming and lack of skill and inept management.. The QA here is pathetic

Being apathetic about it is worse than the rest of the issues we are dealing with from TESO

When I asked about how they can break good code it was a rhetorical question...

I was not responding to your post nor did I quote it.

That said, unless your 20 years in the technology business included being an MMO programmer and you personally have looked at the code in question you not in the position to make any factual statements about it.

You can call bull or whatever you want, doesnt make you right or wrong. Just like it doesnt make me right or wrong.

This isnt my first game, mmo or computer. I played vanilla WOW among others, go read the old patch notes for any MMO, your going to see a big history of bug fixes. These types of games are immensely complex. Do your own research if you dont believe that.

Perhaps this is the first time you've had to deal with bugs impacting your own characters, that could make thing feel worse then they are.
