I agree with you on the whole use of account names. It means, for one thing, that if I see any of my guildmates or other freinds in game I will have no way at all of actually telling them apart from a
.....yeah, not even remotely the same thing. The RealID system had your full name as your account name/identity. This is just your account name being visible in guilds and only in guilds.
You are correct I remembered it incorrectly. Probably because the reasons I stated in the first post in this topic were the same reasons I hated the idea of Real ID, my bad.

For those worried that your account name being visible is a security issue, Star Trek and Neverwinter both use this method. I never had my account compromised nor did any guild member in either game.
This is why the only guild I'm a part of is with a bunch of people who already know my user ID, because it's the same name I have on both Steam and Xbox live.
