Same for me. Character just stands there and twitches as I mash the ultimate button. Looks just like the Stoppling Charge bug. I was using dawnbreaker. -

You should be getting the 5% bonus as long as the skill is slotted, regardless of whether or not your ultimate is full. -

Major Protection doesnt work with all Ground Aoe abilities: 1st hit of dawnbreaker \ aoe from meteor \ blazing spear etc.. -

and also, not a bug but I like occasionally seeing the Gold Knight struggling with Dawnbreaker and puzzling about that story.
