This is a good idea but I guess they might find it difficult to implement. What I'm doing is do a manual clear out every now and then removing all the random letter names (gold sellers) from my ignor -

Yes, but if you look at zone chat it displays their character name but when you ignore them it uses the account name. They could do the same for guilds, just display the character name of the characte -
