Yes account names could be found elsewhere, it's just visually displeasing, even if you can change the display. -

Zos customer service. No lie. Had a situation and needed an account name change before it was something you could just do. They asked me some questions and this was one of the suggestions. I loved it -

I changed my account name the only issue I had was with Addons. Re-setting up my UI. -

Make achievements account wide so you dont have to stress about which character you get an achievement on. -
