Hello All,

Earlier today PlayStation 5 players were receiving a "Patch Required" error when attempting to login to the game. The issue has been resolved, but if you already installed today's patch, please delete and reinstall the game to fix this issue. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

So in order to fix this I will have to lose all my addons, settings and so on? Or is this just a quick fix and waiting it out, we will get a proper fix for existing installs?

I think if you don't delete your local data, your addons should stay.
but don't quote me on that. If anyone successfully does keep their add-ons through this, please share how you did it.

ZOS, you do realize that PS5 console have a default setting to download updates, even when the console is in standby and the owner is not using it? It is under Automatic Updates, and both "Auto-Download" and "Auto-Install in Rest Mode" are default on. Everyone who has ESO installed on their PS5 console and left their PS5 turned on will likely need to delete and reinstall ESO.

Sigh. 12% downloaded, 45 minutes left, on a fiber internet connection. Competing with every other PS player of ESO to download the same game from the Playstation server.

This does seem more of a PS issue than a ZOS issue? There's only so much that can be done from their end of things. Could try sending some feedback to PS in regards to that system.

I have no idea what caused this. Where did the patch come from? Did ZOS send the patch to Playstation? Or did Playstation invent the patch out of thin air? Until I know those answers, I am just speculating.

I had not played today and while I have that setting active my PS5 had been off since last night. I don't believe the patch was live long enough for rest mode to kick in unless you were actively using the PS5 around the time the patch was issued or tried to play ESO while the patch was active.

If you are on version 1.020.001 you did not get the patch and should be able to play successfully.

Honestly that is beyond ridiculous, having to reinstall the game because aof a patch that is bugged,or even not working correctly once installed.
What happens if your internet connection is slow and you have to reinstall?.

My internet is NOT slow but there are many people out there whos internet is,even in this day and age.

I'm going with the official PS5 version number as reported on the information screen which does not correspond to the patch notes, but I do have 1.67 which is listed in the announcements on the home screen on the app.

This is some next level "whoopsie!"

I would be chewing nails if this happened to me and the solution was "please delete and reinstall the game to fix".

Okay. After delete and reinstall game, I login and find I have no Add-Ons.

Sigh. Options, Add-Ons, Manage My Add-Ons, press square for Reload UI, wait ... and I have Add-Ons again.

And I can't remember the last time Vivec City crafting area was this empty. Good luck to everyone getting back!

I deleted and waited almost 4 hours to reinstall. Turned off auto updates and everything just for it to still somehow include the buggy patch. How do I avoid this? I now have to spend another 4 hours redownloading for a total of 8 hours…

Hey there, so let me summarize.

ZOS releases a patch that causes the game to crash.
ZOS has the “perfect” solution: the players have to do the work, players have to reinstall everything—130 GB, all settings, add-ons, etc.
ZOS is off the hook and can sit back and relax.

So as a paying PSN and ESO+ customer, I expect ZOS to fix the bug and not pass the work off to the players. Mistakes happen, but not fixing them is a whole different story. As a customer who pays for the product, I’d expect a new patch to be released that fixes the problem created.

Sorry guys, but thats not customer service …

Hey bro don't be angry. Even tho half of the employees has been layed off it doesn't mean everything will work out fine for the future.

Luckily we don't have any PS experts at ZoS but at least they can give us solutions we would have known our selfs.

This was an error that only occurred with PlayStation players who were trying to login within a specific window of time.

I'm sorry to hear this happened! We recommend deleting the entire game, turning off the device, and unplugging it from the wall for five minutes for a full power cycle, then try reinstalling the game. If you're still encountering this issue, it is likely something that would require a ticket with Sony.

If anyone is still having trouble getting on, be aware that you can run the PS4 version of the game on the PS5.

You won't have access to extra features such as addons, but it'll at least let you log in and take care of any simple business that can't wait.

Hi, so we are getting no further patch to fix this problem caused by the patch today?
And the only solution you are offering is that we have to do all the work and spent some time solving this issue?

I can't believe this response....how tone-deaf can you survivors be? 😆 Luckily I was playing too much and rolled through all this, but to those effected, this response is criminal and gets you insta-killed by the town watch......

For the record, my PS automatically downloaded and installed the patch (which was from Sony, not ZOS), yet the game is working fine for me. No need for me to reinstall the game. So don't panic - you may be fine.
