How can ESO players punish Microsoft for slashing the studio?

Players have not many options. There is 'send an e-mail' or 'hold an in-game protest', and 'boycott'.

A third option in theory could be 'show your support for ESO by spending more, and when Microsoft sees the increase, they'll decide to increase funding', but that's very unreliable and can even have the opposite effect, rewarding the cuts.

A problem with boycott is that it can lead to a cycle of further cuts also, which is not the result players want.

So, how can players punish Microsoft for slashing the studio, in a way which pushes them to reverse the policy? Any ideas? Criticism of Microsoft seems to trigger moderators, hopefully this is in the rules.

What you can do is play the game a lot and recommend it to support it.

Yeah, punish them with even more of your money, that will show them indeed.

Microsoft is a company, not a wellfare organization, not a collective farm and not a juke box. They do what they think is the right thing to do to sell their products with maximized profit. You might not like it, but as a consumer, you have no word in the decisions they make, because it's none of your business. Regardless how many e-mails you send, they will not change anything.
The only option you have is to stop buying their products and that's where your power ends. If enough people share your views and do the same, it will perhaps enter the radar of the higher ups. Maybe.

Now, as a disclaimer: I do NOT agree with the latest decisions that Microsoft made in regards to cutting down and closing studios. Not at all. I'm just not delusional enough to try and change anything. The 15$ I pay as a monthly subscription does not include a right to question company decisions and expect to be heard.

And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forebodings too
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon
