Following the instructions in comment #23 does work. I have been using 12-15 add-ons for weeks now without errors.

None of those list matter when out of no where two of the addons or their supporting libs become part of the problem. They need to FIX it

Hi all, just wanted to provide an update. This save issue (Save Error on PlayStation) should now be resolved and work properly. If you still run into issues after servers go live, please let us know. Thanks for your patience as we worked through this issue.

I can be critical but also acknowledge when they knocked it out the park. This is one of those knock out of the parks. I’ve downloaded addons that have never worked and not a single save error yet! ZoS…….. Well Done!!!!!

Nope! Currently behaviour looks like the autosave error has simply been bypassed. Add-ons that were added after the error occurred are still not remembering their settings. Also add-ons that have updates pending are simply saying Installed rather than Update via the Options/Add-ons/Browse Add-ons screen. I could try a fresh set of installs but my day job is debugging other people's code and I really don't want to do similar in my free time.

Happy to hear if anyone knows differently.

@MurderologistOnPSN have you tried changing values and checking that they are sticky? Especially on later installed add-ons?

I’m having exactly the same problem as this. I spent the last hour modifying setting of new downloaded addons to my preferences. After restarting the game and logging in none of the setting changes were saved.

I had an add-on I've never purposefully installed active this morning. And one that I have previously installed, but didn't currently have installed, active this morning.

Adding in what I've observed here in the event it's helpful.

I had the autosave error for a while now and was just editing the couple of addons it was impacting at the start of each play session.
Autosave error is gone, and any changes I make to addons that I had installed before the patch are successfully saving (reloaded ui, logged out, and restarted the game and the changes were saved across all of it).

Editing to clarify that my settings are saving for all of the addons I had before the patch, including those that previously were not allowing me to save them because of the autosave error.

Then I downloaded a new addon, specifically TGs Group Trackers. To test if my settings would save, all I changed was the setting "show while solo." The default for that setting is on. I switched it to off; the group tracker did disappear as it was supposed to. Then I reloaded ui--the tracker immediately showed back up, so the setting did not save. Editing a second time to correct myself; I actually didn't reload ui to have the setting revert. I opened the map to try and trigger an autosave (which I did), and that reverted the setting.
What's weirder, though, is when I went to change it back, despite the fact that I could see the tracker, the setting still said that it was set to off.

So based on my experience, the changes not saving situation is only applicable to addons that were installed after U47 was installed, and it fails to save changes made to the addons *immediately.* There also seems to be desync between the settings menu and what the addon is actually doing.

It sint working like that for me. I had lazy writ crafter installed before the update with the save error. After the update the settings arent persisting for it. New addons installed are also not saving their settings

So far this seems to be a pretty much overwhelming NO! this is not fixed. @ZOS_Kevin

My set of add-ons installed is extensive, 60+. Those installed prior to an auto-save error being triggered are and apparently remain configurable. Those installed once the auto-save error was triggered always start with default values.

The only difference I see with U47 is that the auto-save error is simply not reported or persisted! My last good save file is always the one that is loaded and has to pre-error configurations stored in it.

Any configuration values set during gameplay persist until I exit to before the login screen.

    So:
    1. login char 1
    2. set a value in add-on
    3. logout char 1
    4. load char 2
    5. logout char 2
    6. login char 1
    7. check add-on value still set
    will succeed.

However if I exit the game the add-on value resets to default UNLESS it was installed prior to the auto-save error being triggered.

I am not an add-on developer but I am a Senior Software Engineer (25+ years). I haven't used Lua but even cursory digging shows that the ZO_SavedVars function is used for persisting data and presumably the data stored in the auto-save file is data supplied in these calls made by ESO and the add-ons themselves.

Given that run-time memories seems unaffected (example above) this suggests that when the auto-save runs it is unable to store all the run-time SavedVars to disk. Further the local save file on the PS never exceeds a little over 3Mb suggesting that is a fixed size.

This is about as far as I can get on publically available information.

I’ve had to resolve by uninstalling all addons and deleting save file then installing and configuring again

Yup, I had Addons reinstall even though I hadn't used those addons in well over a month....it just did it automatically.

Try going to the bethesda mods page, logging in and unsubscribing from them in your library. Fingers crossed they are staying uninstalled now!

Appears add-ons are now auto upgrading. On the Browse All Add-ons page Reload UI is becoming active without my choice to upgrade relevant add-ons. It's just happening automatically. Normally associated with a short UI freezing delay just after logging into a character.

    An optimistic HUZZAH!

If you have add-ons already installed. Delete your save file prior to starting the game. You will need to reset all your values but the save file will grow proportionally in scale with the number of add-ons installed.

Mine leapt from 3.15Mb to 108.1Mb

Add-on configuration appears to hold for all my installed add-ons!

Yeah I deleted my save file and started from scratch and now it appears to be saving the settings to addons that wernt saving before

Deleting my save file and started from scratch also seems to have fixed the problem for me.

However, there is still some random weirdness happen. I hard froze (in the champion points menu, love that that's still a thing) and when I restarted, a couple of addons had settings revert from my changes. One (TG's group trackers) completely reset; the writ crafter addon had a few settings that reverted. Most addons were unaffected.

So I'm not entirely sure if that's just an issue with those specific addons, or if there is a random bug floating around with the saves. Overall, though, the issues with addon settings saving seem to be resolved.
