Please don't release the Elder Scrolls 6

LoveForElderScrolls
I'm not done with ESO yet and there's still lots of things to do. Please don't release the Elder Scrolls 6 yet. Delay it and make it better.

I want TES VI TOMORROW. I won't drop ESO, but I NEED TES VI before I die. I mean, I'm already mid-70s....

@LoveForElderScrolls Not sure Zenimax are involved in Elder Scrolls 6 development. Good news for you, at the current rate of development, we might not see a released game until 2025 or later. Or after Skyrim 100th anniversary edition is released :D

Elder Scrolls 6 is developed by differend company and it's release is going to take many years. Sure some people will move from ESO to Elder Scrolls 6 but most will come back. Competion is good for gaming industry because companies need to work harder to keep their players.

Actually it's not a different company as it is another dept in same company. ZoS & BSG (Bethesda Game Studios), who is developing TES VI, are sister companies under the Zenimax Media Corp. banner, who also runs id Software, Arkane Studios, Machine Games and Tango Gameworks.
ZoS also works and communicates constantly with BSG about ESO concerning lore, places, etc.

But as others said, at current production schedule, TES VI won't see daylight till 2025/2026 at earliest.
Plus BSG is all hands on deck for Starfield release.

[snip] It's been too long since Skyrim, and I'm still - yes - actively playing both Oblivion and Skyrim alongside ESO.

I will never stop playing Oblivion, Skyrim, and ESO. I would still be playing Arena and Daggerfall if they worked without DOSbox.

I honestly don't think there has been a single line of code written for TES VI...and I don't think there will be until a year or so after Satrfield releases.

Oh well, at least we have ESO.

It's kinda poor that TES6 hasn't been made yet. It's been 11 years since Skyrim, and it's not looking like it will be anytime soon. After that massive success you'd think they could make what the customers want, instead of developing entirely new things like Starfield. I hope ESO isn't a factor in deprioritizing the main series.

We’d should’ve gotten Elder Scrolls 6 like five years ago but instead we will be lucky if it comes out five years from now.

They'll always need DOSbox, but if you get them on GOG (they're free!), all the work has already been done for you. You just install and launch.

Well, seeing that all 9 TES games by BSG are single player RPG's, I highly doubt it.
As far as how long they have waited, Todd H. said in a interview, they were waiting on technology to catch up to what they wanted to do. New engine, physics, etc.

Yeah, but DOSbox is NOT optimal on my system. As in - not playable on my 4k screens - I can't play 640x480 on them and for some reason DOSbox refuses to "play nice at a larger resolution". Eh, I have a couple of antique laptops that could probably run them.... but - not really at anything approaching actually playable.

I have downloaded them from GOG, along with DRM-free Skyrim.

This. Though really.... while life is good at this point, that can change overnight, y'know? I've been playing TES since Arena released. And ESO is a good stopgap offering.... But an MMO isn't my first choice.

I actually wouldn't stop playing ESO any more than I would stop playing Oblivion and Skyrim. But I might be (as usual) a minority of one.

Or, even better, download the COMPLETELY FREE* versions from WiWiki. While it's primarily a Francophonic TES wiki, and their versions of Arena and Daggerfall are (respectively) called 'Projet French Arena' and 'Projet French Daggerfall' (based upon the fact that the primary goal of their versions is to provide unofficial French translations), they do have an adequately-translated English version of their wiki, as well as the full, original, American English versions of both Arena and Daggerfall, complete with numerous enhancements, including the rare** CD special edition of Arena and a plethora of bug-fixing and quality-of-life mods for Daggerfall, all preinstalled and ready to play. Fortunately, if the unofficial translations and mods aren't for you, the default installations are the original American English versions, plus you can uncheck whichever mods you don't want.

You might also take a look into DaggerfallUnity, a kind of port of the original, American-English Daggerfall and its source-code into the Unity engine. The enhancements of this version over others is that it will be catered specifically toward modding, with simple-to-understand (and access) modding tools. I believe it's feature-complete by now (when I last checked a couple of years ago, it was only a few steps away from being v1.0, and was expected to go to v1.0 at any moment even then). In fact, modding for DaggerfallUnity became available not long after it entered public beta, and many people quickly produced mods to give the game a much-needed graphical upgrade, as well as implementing other QoL features long requested. Inspired by the enormous success of DaggerfallUnity, even during the former's public beta, a similar project for Arena popped up on GitHub; alas, I've forgotten the name of the latter, but a simple search should quickly prove fruitful.

*On GOG, you can only get Arena and Daggerfall if you purchase any other Bethesda game, thus not truly making them 'free' per se.

**For whatever reason, Bethesda loathes the far-superior, CD version of Arena.

For you, the best option would be if ZOS does not release a new TES will not constantly promise it. In this case, you will be able to live up to 200 years, finding the strength to wait :)

    Starfield is first next year.

Then ESVI which will, in all likelihood, be around 2027. 4 years after Starfield, maybe more.

I'm not playing the single player games, but given how long fans have been waiting for the release of the next installment I hope for their sake they release it earlier in this decade. It wouldn't impact my ESO life, and I hope ESO continues to grow alongside those games

I'm not done with ESO yet and there's still lots of things to do. Please don't release the Elder Scrolls 6 yet. Delay it and make it better.

I don't think ESO and ES6 are even remotely connected, so ZoS couldn't delay it even if they wanted to. Personally, I want ES6 released as soon as possible, so long as it's ready... after all, ES started life with Bethesda, not ZoS, and in my heart (and by Bethesda's design) it is and always will be a solo player PvE.
