Unable to complete the crystal tower, game does not advance after Earl opens it

I have gotten the key, killed of all mobs, Earl opens gate, I can walk through it but Earl does not try to teleport to the gate, I am in a group of myself and one guild member. We restarted quest got to the gate portion of the game, gate opens again I am and the golden fighter can walk through but again Earl stays at the gate key as well as my guild member cannot enter at all. We have tried this 5 times with same results
Any ideas anyone
