Can't login / Get disconnected after choosing character / Black Screen from time to time

Hello, i've been playing some months and i haven't had problems until now.

Let's begin saying that i play the Steam version and i play in the european servers (from Spain). It all started last week after applying the last Greymoor patch. I bought the chapter and tried to log in to get daily and the gifts (mounts, etcetera). I could log in but after ten seconds i got disconnected from server. I tried to come back and same thing happened. I got tired after the fifth try and i disconnected.

The day after, i tried to log in, i clicked in the "play button" of the launcher and all i got was a black screen. I could hear the game music but i couldn't see anything. It happened on friday, saturday and sunday. Yesterday i could log in to get the daily but after ten seconds the game kicked me out.

Today, i'm getting the same black screen after clicking PLAY. I can also hear the music but nothing happens.

It's getting so boring because i paid for Greymoor and all i can do is get the daily before getting disconnected. Can you guys help me? I really think you need to ckeck this out because i see i'm not the only person with this problem.

Thanks a lot and good night.

Here are some changes you may need to make to get the ESO launcher working correctly with Steam.

    1. The .exe that Steam requires to be launched to be compatible with the Steam overlay is not actually eso.exe, but a file called "zosSteamStarter.exe". If your Steam library is "pointing" to the wrong .exe file, it won't launch from the library. The correct file "zosSteamStarter.exe" will usually be in the following directory:

    Steam\Steamapps\Common\Zenimax Online

After locating "zosSteamStarter.exe", right click it to run it as an administrator. You may want to set it to permanently run as an administrator in your Compatibility tab. You can also create a shortcut to this .exe to use it more easily in the future; this is the .exe that must be run to access the Steam overlay and log your Steam play hours.

    2. In order for "zosSteamStarter.exe" to log the information such as play hours properly, you may have to lower your Windows UAC (User Account Control) settings. Lowering User Account Control settings to the minimum will allow Steam to gather this data properly.

Hello, Zos_BillE... and thanks for your fast reply.

Unfortunately, it didn't work, so i today decided to format my pc, install Windows and ESO again.

After many hours of downloading the game in Steam, i installed it and tried to play. At first, everything run so smooth, BUT... after a VERY LONG login screen, i got to choose Spain in the country screen, could click play in the Character screen and got disconnected. Tried twice and got disconnected again.

I exit the game and tried to play again. I clicked PLAY... and after the Zenimax animation, just a black screen and nothing more. I can't even see the character screen now.

Could you post or link to either a DxDiag or game consultant report?

Getting more details on your current PC setup will be helpful in troubleshooting this black screen.

Have you gone through the troubleshooting posted above?

There are some additional steps you can take in the article linked below.

What do I do if ESO is crashing with a black screen after I press play?

Hey bro, after searching a while in win 10 2004 patch note, i notice many feedback about fullscreen optimizations cause high CPU demand game crashing. This feature will force your CPU run like a war horse and GPU will suffer bottleneck then it will crash due overheating, Turn this off work for me, you can turn this off by locating the eso64 in Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client,right click for properties check the compatbility and tick [Disable Fullscreen Optimizations ].Hope this work for you
