✭✭Well if elves are decendant of the gods.... the gods look like elves?? I know the daedra can change thier form on a whim I guess I suspect that is also true of the aedra... Akatosh being a dragon and all. However, everyones form on mundus was locked in place by Yiffre though. hmm
The Hist is a god?, right? That chose the form of a Tree? or got trapped as a tree when Yiffre locked everyones form? I know there was some contention about wether it was created by lorkhan like men were or not. The Hist gives the argonians form and allows them to breed gives them a sort of basic hive mind, like a collective emotional state. I personally suspect the argonians were kagouti like lizards that drunk the sap of the hist trees and became thier current form through a symbiosis with a god, or similar entity. Beyond the hist thier worship is typically related to Sithis an entitiy older than the gods. I could see a god worshipping even older entities. Argonians are like the arms of a tree god, thier form is chosen by that god.
I think even if argonian's are born without a connection to The Hist they still have thier form locked by Yiffre, thier form is still that of an argonian they just lack the hive mind connection.0 -

Male and female argonians should both only have a cloaca (an all-purpose "hole" for peeing, pooping, and sexing; reptiles have sex by rubbing their holes together).
The cloaca is more of a bird thing (and not even all birds, at that); most male reptiles have either a *** (crocodilians & turtles/tortoises) or a pair of similar organs called hemipenes (lizards, snakes). Given the lizardlike conformation of Argonian scales, tails and facial structure, I had been assuming they had hemipenes. Which could be a point of dismay, or envy, from other races...0 -
