So, to preface this, I don't want to reduce the total outgoing dps. I just dislike the stutter-step animation that LA anim cancelling introduces to every end-game build.
Currently all Instant Cast Abilities have a 0.6 GCD as standard. Light attacks and heavy attacks are on their own separate GCD, and because of this, weaving the GCD of Light/Heavy attacks and the GCD of abilities is the DPS standard for end-game. This is fairly simple to do, especially when you can rebind keys to say: additional mouse keys so you can perform all your attacks just using one hand. I have no problem with using this to gain dps increases. But, I hate the animations that are a result of that, it seems so, unpolished.
So, the idea would be to merge the LA/HA GCD with the ability GCD. However, the GCD applied by LA/HA would be shorter, about 0.3 seconds
For light attacks the GCD would count down as soon as you initially start the light attack. For Medium/Heavy attacks the GCD would start as soon as you let go of the attack button.
But, because of this, overall dps would decrease, So, I would suggest experimenting with LA values that would bring rotations up to par with previous builds.
Edit: I would also introduce ability queuing , such that if you press an ability while you're on the GCD, it will fire off as soon as as the GCD is up, unless you overwrite it with another ability or block cancel (Only a stack size of 1 at max)
