PVE magDK gear/rotation discussion

For starters... i recently switched my stamina dk to mag (race change and all) Tanking is a lot more fun but i'm struggling with dps. I was pushing 25 - 30k with stam in BiS gear on target dummy with no buffs and i haven't tested mag yet but i doubt i'm over 25k.
Grothdar or Skoria or ....? I know they are both decent, but is skoria really THAT much lower dps compared to grothdar?
I only ask because i can't find the correct pieces for my gear to be 5-1-1 with grothdar yet... shoulders are light... and so is all BSW armor.
I use 5 BSW, 3 willpower (because my sorc has my only full set of aether jewelry), 2 grothdar and non set crafted sharpened staves (inferno front, lightning back) because i can't find a mal inferno sharpened
The rotation i use basically this..i'm sure my dot timing isn't perfect yet so that kills my dps a bit
Ash cloud, fire breath, burning embers, blockade, then weave whips a few times and drop meteors as they pop up - then repeat, skipping ash cloud every other rotation. Throwing light attacks between my dots.
The discussion part...
Is this the general idea for good rotations/dps on mag dk? What numbers SHOULD i be seeing from the target skeleton?
Which monster set should be used in my case?
PS. i have looked up builds but i prefer to ask questions and get other opinions.

✭✭Rotation is fine. Start with inferno up before you drop an attack and use standard or lit staff ult (it gives you like 5 powerlashes back to back and costs 0) 34-35k is perfectly doable solo. And grothdar as you're up close all the time anyway. Skoria for heavy attack builds.PC Master Race

You should be doing:
1. Eruption>Trap>Flames of Oblivion>
2. Engulfing>Burning Embers>Blockade>6 whips.
3. Engulfing>Burning Embers>Blockade>Repeat Step 1.
From there just Alternate between Steps 2 and 3.
Grothdar is by far much better than skoria and you should be seeing around 38k+ DPS on the dummy probided someone is running ele dtain for you.
