There's a difference between something being expensive and something being overpriced. The elk is overpriced. I wouldn't buy it even with the crowns I have from being a subber so I definitely wouldn't drop down extra cash on top of the monthly fee.

Had the wife and I known the cost when the Ice Wolf was out we'd have gotten it since we didn't have the crowns to get both and we wanted the elk the most. Oh well. Win some, lose some.

wow...so this is how ZOS treats it's loyal members during the holidays, by gouging us with ridiculous prices for holiday related items?? Shame on you...bah humbug... you need to rethink your commercialism...it's starting to feel a lot like being "scrooged"

    Hi everyone,

Thank you for sharing your feedback and concerns with us regarding the Great Elk mount. We do take your feedback into consideration for future Crown Store content releases. Because of its geometry and the fact that it already has adornment by default, this particular mount does not have an upgraded look for maxed out riding skills as some of our other mounts do. Some of our mounts will have this upgraded look, and some will not. In the future, we will do better at letting everyone know ahead of time which do and which don’t.

Apparently the lack of visible upgrades is intentional, or at least not something they plan to change.

I find it hard to believe "geometry" made it impossible or impractical given they managed upgrades for the bear and other mounts not shaped like a traditional horse, but I don't know the technical limitations they're working under to be honest - it just reeks far more of "we didn't want to work that hard." *Rolley eyes* And while that's fine on it's own, you don't charge 4,500 crowns for a "meh" attempt at something.

It is a company, so it must be lack of resources, not lazyness.

Which worries me. I hope they HAVE the resources and just put it somewhere else (somewhere gameplay-related, hopefully). The final price of the mount, however, makes me think that maybe that isn't the case.

I am not upset, really. I'm worried.

Best case scenario, they are trying to raise money fast for an expansion. In the past, I saw MMOs selling life time subscriptions and the likes with this objective. Maybe ZOS decided to go with selling overpriced cosmetics that had low resources allocated to their making and the RNG boxes.

Worst case scenario, they are trying to get as much money as possible before turning off the lights and are going F2P very soon.

I hope it is the first case.

They went the wrong direction.. completely! They could have had people overjoyed and happily spending money to buy their elk mount with good holiday cheer, but someone at ZOS, decided to do a grinch money grubbing grab instead.. It doesn't really seem to be working out all that well for them. Shame on you ZOS for upsetting your player base during the holidays.

You had just one job.. DON'T *** OFF THE PLAYER BASE DURING THE HOLIDAYS!!! :s

The loyal members are the ones that bought the Great Elk without even a second thought. They bask in the goodness that is the Great Elk. They are not ashamed of the purchase, and cannot be shamed. They don't care what the haters have to say.

Never regret missed opportunities like this. There is nothing to be done about it, after the fact, and you could not have known what the future held, before the fact.

To me, the ice wolf represents two bad things that ZOS has done, all wrapped up into one horrible package. The ice mounts are just wrong. It should have been more like the Nightmare Courser, a normal mount with an icy flavor. The wolf mounts are also wrong. ZOS should have never done the wolves, they just look silly in the game because the proportions are all wrong. Together, they represent a repressed memory. I have no recollection of this mount ever being in the store, something that is likely keeping me sane.

The Great Elk mount is the better mount, compared to any of the wolf mounts, even if it does not have the stamina/capacity/speed stuff with it.

I see them in the game. The price suggests that they were not looking for mass sales. It was intentional that not everyone would want to buy it. Only the top buyers are the intended audience.

I've seen a few in game as well, but not as many as I had expected to see (prior to knowing the outrageous overprice of them). I recently got the mud ball memento... muahahhahah mud balls for every elk rider I can catch!!!! Mud balls of my discontent.. and ridicule.. >:)

You do realize that your threat to act out in the game is the result of nothing more than a difference in opinion regarding how someone else spends their money?

I like the wolf mount. Have one on my short bosmer so he's closer to wolf size.

I took a look at the elk though, compared it to elks near Orsinium. If you want to talk about wrong proportions, why are the eyes so tiny? Also the sound, I thought the echalette was bad.

I'm willing to accept the concept of premium items not meant for everyone. I'm not sure how they make business sense, but I understand the concept. The elk is not the dro m'athra senche. You cannot look at it and tell me they put premium effort into this mount. And after senches, camels and bears, oh my, I don't buy the reasoning that elk mounts need to be rare.

While we assume you're kidding, we want to make it clear that though we understand your feelings regarding the cost of the elk mount, taking it out on other players is not acceptable. This can be considered griefing which can lead to disciplinary action against your game account.

Oh calm down... I'm throwing mud balls at everyone. And so are a lot of other people. It's part of the festival. What is the point in having a mud ball memento if not to use it? Tis the season to be muddy! falalalalalallalaaa :)

I was kidding, but are you saying people are not able to use a memento as it was intended to be used.. to throw mud balls at other players? If that is true, what was the point of making the memento?

Maybe we could get some clarification into instances where mudballing does lie into the category of griefing and where it doesn't. So far the only instance I can recall is throwing them at players trying to use the dye stations, which would be impeding game function, but I can't think of other instances.

I would also stay away from role players, unless you are part of their group. In general, this is good advice, whether intending to mudball or not.

Unless you are in a mudball fight with someone, try not to target the same person multiple times. Nail them, then move on. This, obviously, does not apply to anyone selling mudballs in zone chat, if you use the ones you just bought from them. Ok, maybe it does still apply. Judgement call.
