Deck the Halls was originally a Welsh carol written in 1862 to music first written down in 1794, with lyrics that involved drinking. In 1877 someone in Pennsylvania decided that a holiday song featuring drinking as a prominent activity wasn't necessarily a good thing, so they rewrote the lyrics. 1877 the word "gay" referred to happy/fun/joy, gaiety is a variant. Now, if they had used the word "fairy" in the 1877 version, that would have been a slur. Language changes; "traditional" carols being traditional, usually don't. Wow...It's not a "ignorant gay joke"...those are the original words. You realize gay also means happy or joyous right?
I didn't change that line simply because it fit with some in game emotes....

Also ZOS Tweeted it out yesterday.

It's ironic that the person accusing the OP(s) of being "Ignorant" is also ignorant of the historic meaning of the word.

So much yes! Next time I'm going to buy out a party city and send helium tanks to each of the guild. It will be so much better if half of them pass out while singing!
