Wow... Just... Wow... I just read that the hack that everyone is up in arms about, was enabling people to do between 20-40mins. runs in VMSA... And then getting top leaderboard spots; thus having their pockets laced with a Maelstrom weapon... Then when name-dropped on the forums, the admins and mods come to defend these people with their policies against "name shaming"...

Are you kidding me, Zenimax...? Are you actually serious? I along with numerous others have worked day and night (literally) in VMSA to get weapons (and a lot of the times nothing at all or in a trait we don't want), and you have these... these chumps who are coming out of nowhere to get leaderboard spots, and when we put them on blast here on the forums you lock our threads and try to silence hs? Really!? REALLY!? That's how you treat your player base and community, Zenimax!? The people who have dedicated insane amounts of time to this game in an attempt to get a leaderboard spot, and or Maelstrom weapon. And you treat us like this?! HOW DARE YOU!?

If the leaderboards don't get reset and these punks don't get permanently banned, I swear I will email IGN, Kotaku, Destructoid, etc. and do all I can to have them write an article about what's happening here on ESO. I won't rest until an article gets published about the bs you all are pulling.

Good idea, but the thread will get locked very soon.

P2P offered you 'hell yeah!' moments. F2P offers you 'thank god its over' moments.

Just for your information, 40 minute times are doable without cheats

IGN is supposed to already have info about this coming out later next week. It was sent to them last week and they were looking into it.

I just hope this gets addressed quickly and FIRMLY as ESO does not need more holes in this ship full of water.

Sadly it has been going on for a long time and is just now getting the attention it deserves on these forums!

The problem with this is the number of people hacking. Typically in this sort of situation, any action by a dev team, no matter how vigilant, doesn't result in a clean sweep.
They may get around 60%, perhaps upto 80% with perseverance. But there will always be players who benefit - and who will still be in the game.
So you make a decision: Are you prepared to continue playing the game knowing there's a percentage of players who have benefited from hacking - maybe even at your expense. Or are you absolute in your mindset, and are prepared to stop playing.

Of course there is always the nuclear option - server rollback.

I'm aware of people doing 45min. and 48min. runs clean. Which is why I said 20-40mins, to put everything in between. My fastest run is a 51mins., and I had to tinkle during it. So I know you can do them in the 40's. But 30mins. and 39mins.? Especially 28mins.? No way. Absolutely not possible without exploits/hacks.

Most excellent. I'll start whipping up an email to Kotaku now. I'm real close with 2 of the writers over there, due to me doing a programming favor for them. So I have some connections with Kotaku (somewhat). I just have to hope they'll consider my email enough to do a write-up about it. The other gaming forms of media will be more challenging, but like I said — I'll do my absolute best. I'll provide: Images, links, videos, etc.

I had a feeling ZOS would try to do a cover-up, so I made a personal back-up of all the threads and posts which had the "name shaming". I also saved copies of the images and videos should I need them as proof in the future (I like proof as you can probably tell by now with always providing links and what not lol).

Going from your profile comments you have been discussing this issue for almost 11 hours now...This is very sad. I understand you are annoyed but I'm sure they are now aware of the issue without you flooding the forums over and over and over again! Moderators do not make the rules, they simple follow them and make sure others do in the process. Until a representative for ZoS addresses the issue in a post, Just wait.

Yesterday you didn't acknowledge this, So how on earth would Admin of been aware of it? They simply cannot just drop everything on a Sunday afternoon and come into work to address your post/s. I feel your pain I really do, I'm pissed off too but look at it from there perspective...Would you come into work on such short notice on your day off to address an issue that will most likely take all of next week to fix? I wouldn't.

    Zenimax didn't "defend" anyone.
They simply do not publically display the usernames they banned / punished.
They simply do it, It's not your job to humiliate players futher, it's ZoS job to reprehend them

It also allows ZoS to give the offenders a slap on the wrist and to say they have addressed the issue.

Theres really not point to actually if they come back it would be under a different username than again I forgot how the registration system worked. Also ZOS can't disclose anything about its users because of legal reasons.

As to hackers, especially on PC and now that consoles are PCs, there will always be a way and if someone is willing to try long enough eventually you can get into it.

Any company will do whatever it can and everything it can to defend it's product and maximize capital. To assume this company would do anything out of "laziness" or "incompetence" on a corporate level to such an extent described on the forums is absurd.

The bottom line is the dollar, and they will do everything to ensure their products remain valid and valuable
