trying to play with my friends and join their group on Elder scrolls but it says that my character does not exist and vice versa when they try to invite me it says I don't exist

If it's the case, ask Zenimax support to change your user name. An unknown game limitation prevents you from doing any social interaction when a player uses those specific characters.0 -
