Only 2k Tome Points carry over??

Thanks to Reddit, I found out only 2k Tome Points carry over between Seasons. This will primarily impact ESO+ players, so I understand if this post is moved elsewhere.
Apologies for not reading all the help files before doing anything in game, but I know I'm not the only player who stands to lose 8k+ Tome Points at the end of the Season.
If people could understand this is a HUGE loss for not reading the Help files, and please refrain from pointing out it's "my own fault."
I apologize for:
1. Not having enough time to try to read help files (on Gamepad UI).
2. Not watching the right streamers, reading any summaries that mentioned this, nor reading the entire forum Discussion on PTS.
3. Not playing Fallout 76, where this mechanic is taken from.
From a game that makes us have an Addon to automatically acknowledge all the "ARE YOU SURE" popups, I expected some kind of information or cap on available Tome Points.

Darkivel✭✭✭WHAT???? Are you serious??? This is the first I heard of it!
I opened all my boxes, because I had no idea this was true. Am I going to just lose all those points???
After having to type "DESTROY" for every stack of crown poison I don't need, it's a little frustrating that there was nothing in game to warn us about this hidden cap.3
