Golden Eagle is a very nice pet, but why not land sometimes?

I mean, Eagles are not Hummingbirds. In fact, not even hummingbird stays flying still indefinitely; they need to rest sometimes.

I could (kind of) understand insects like butterflies or bugs flying around, but an Eagle?? Why not give it a moment of landing while our character is not moving?

Better yet! Why not allow the eagle land on our character shoulders for a moment? This will be so amazing!

Food for thought,

None of the flying pets ever land, which is disappointing. It makes them seem both unrealistic and incomplete.

I'm fairly sure we see birds in the world take off and land, so the animations do exist, it would be great to see it applied to pets as well.

Same problem with the owl, which I would use if it would land.

Agreed. Flying pets often feel out of place because they are hovering, which realistically they would not do for hours on end.

For this reason, I like magical flying pets that just kind of dart around. There is no frame of reference to how they should act, so they feel more natural.

With eagles, owls, any kind of bird really, we have a frame of reference so the feel out of place.

The Bee works great as a flying pet. The moths/flies/butterflies (not sure what insect they are) also works well. But birds just feel wrong.

I have a few bird pets that I would use if they could land sometimes, but the first time I tried using one I couldn’t stand how they couldn’t land and haven’t used them since and haven’t bought any more. 🦅

Yes, this is so annoying with the constant wing flapping. I could never use these pets. Other player’s pets cause a distraction for me.

The soulfire dragon illusion sometimes lands. The other dragon imp pets probably do as well, since it uses their animations. Actual living birds never seem to, not even the talking crows. Maybe it's possible to update them with the same 'landed' state that the dragon uses.

Same. The only flying pets I use regularly are the torchbugs. Occasionally something like the netches, or wisps, but only when they're small and I don't think they'll bother others in a group.

The incessant flapping on the birds is very annoying. Unfortunate, because other than that, many of them are great. I'd love if they'd land on our shoulders.

Yeah, torchbug is my favorite. It sort of floats and doesn't look like it's overexerting itself. And it's unobstrusive.

The dragon bone construct walks if youre walking and flies when youre sprinting. Future flying pets should use a similar animation because it looks way more natural than hummingbirds

With all the flying pets including the moths etc the problem for me other than the fact that they don't ever land is that they flap their wings too fast. You can't even see the patterns on the wings because it's flapping so fast. They need to completely redo the animations for all of the flying pets.

Yes, adding my vote since years now. Related post for reference:

It's especially bad and irritating in housing. And the animation is already there: I'm fairly certain they all share the same rig with Jangleplume, Peddler and Squire, who do sit in housing and have the capacity to fly, walk, land and sit when pathed.

One of the coolest versions of flying pets I've ever seen is in Black Desert — it lands on the player's shoulder
