I saw this on Reddit, I am not affected user just putting it out there. The ESO+ sale only applies to new users. The blog post saying you could get it even if you weren't was in error and has since been corrected. IDK what zos is doing for those who purchased it because they thought it would was on sale yet. I assume they'll be refunded but I haven't seen the official information about that part yet.

ETA

In the meantime, submit a ticket if you're an affected user.

Yes. The blog post is already updated but I wanted to post about it here in case someone who happened to see the sale before the update and hadn't noticed reads the forums. It may not end up being helpful but if it helps even one person, it would be worth it.

Support is responding to players with an active ticket about this issue basically saying "sucks to be you". The revenue bump from the subscriptions lured in with false advertising must be just what was needed to save a C-suite's job a week before Microsoft's earnings call.

Some people are reporting that it appeared like they had gotten the discount only to realize they'd been charged full price. I don't know how accurate that is because I am not affected user and didn't see screenshots. Others said the price was right at checkout. You may want to check to see if you got a discount or not, unless you're a new subscriber. New ones did properly receive the discount.

    Oh... that's not...

Hopefully they rectify this mistake quickly. I haven't personally found the official communication on this part yet.

Under the UCC in the United States, if an advertisement is clear and specific (which the initial wording arguably was), it constitutes a binding offer. It can be revoked, but only before acceptance, not after.
