can't choose the quest by yourself

I'm a little frustrated that ZoZ is forcing me to take a quest that I don't want. When I'm in Cyrodil and I want to take a scroll quest, as an example, I'm forced to take the one that is currently there, even if I want another one, not a little but very frustrating, would be much nicer if I could choose which scroll I wanted to take, is it too much to ask?

Well, in war, your officers and superior ranks are the ones that give the orders. Is not that a lower rank can go do whatever they want. :#

For scroll quests you can drop them and get another (you may have to try several times), unless you are missing one or both home scrolls, in which case the game is intentionally designed to encourage you to get those back. It would also be odd to let you get a scroll quest for an offensive scroll you can’t pick up if you’re missing the equivalent home scroll.

    In war you also don't
    - attack enemies that don't fight back
    - use poison
    - use weapons that cause unneccessary pain or injuries.
These things are considered war crimes.

In ESO it still happens all the time. Why? It's a game.

Yes I know you can abandon the quest. but it would be nice to be able to choose which quest to take, among the ones currently available, the ones I can't take would be shaded, like with killQuest, if I don't want to take dragonknight, but take nightblades, if I had done the quest it would be shaded, even 150 players can be a bit of a pain, if I could choose 9 res instead, it would be more fun. pressing the abandon button over and over is not fun, more fun to choose the quest.

Yes, because if there are no emotes, that absolutely means the writer can not have written something with a slightly humourous or not-so-serious sentiment in mind. I fully agree that irony, sarcasm, or humour in general, did not exist before the invention of emotes.

Then I might call myself lucky that you haven't read the post I made about having captured and imprisoned Vanus Galerion in a box inside my basement, and called the guards. I haven't used any emotes there, after all.

Not that there's any reason to call the guards. Actually, Galerion likes his new box.

And yet, the term 'war crimes' is only a few centuries old... the vikings certainly didn't care about 'war crimes', nor did many other cultures. So I doubt back in ancient Tamriel, they cared about whether something was a war crime or not... afterall, WHO is going to prosecute them?!? Just sayin'. ;)

It wasn't called a "war crime", but there were already rules about what can be done in a war and what not in antiquity. Common points discussed were what reasons justified an attack, and to avoid violence against civilians, fighters who surrendered, and prisoners. Among others, Platon has written long passages about this it in his Politeia, Cicero wrote about it in De re publica. These are probably the most well-known ones (in the West, at least), but there were also different works in Indian and Chinese philosophy, for example. And I think the Code of Hammurabi also has parts about this, but I'm not an expert on Mesopotamia (could ask a friend, but that would take a few days, as he's travelling right now). And in the Middle Ages, you had Thomas Aquinas and the likes... So theories and rules did exist.

Such a long reply for something originally only half-serious... But I consider everything an opportunity to learn new things, so why not.

I wish you could at least get both scroll quests if both of yours have been captured (which happens a lot to my faction’s scrolls overnight). There have been many times that I had the other scroll quest and I abandoned it and was not able to get the other one that just got returned. It takes a certain amount of time for them to switch.
