Also, surveys... I can't seem to delete them. Many of them are a pain the butt to use too. There are a few that I have to run ~15 seconds away, then run back and it will be spawn again while some of the newer ones its only 2 or 3 seconds away. I wish my leveled companion could go do them for me.

Mark surveys as junk; move to junk pane, delete from there (on pc, use the X button, don't know about consoles).
Here's an idea, would solve two birds with one stone. Let furnishing multiples in homes count as one item. Built a house and used 20 high isle walls? One slot. Storing 10 candles, group? One slot. Storage issues and housing slot issues solved.

Except that doesn't "Solve" the housing slot issues.
Since the housing slot limitations are there because of performance issues related to older hardware (I.e. Old consoles)
They're not there because they can't change the numerical values for slots. They're there because a machine needs to process loading all of the assets you put into the location.
Bumping up the amount of assets you can place by 20 fold (If not more) will literally brick the older hardware.

I also found out that I DID have a crafting station I could have used, instead of buying one, I just didn't remember what house it was in.
Which addon are you using? My bank is cluttered with furnishings all the time (actually it's more or less everything I keep there, except for a few items to swap between characters every now and then) because I want to have an overview about what I have on hand, and if I put that stuff in houses, I lack that (of course I could begin to write spreadsheets, but honestly, in the few hours I might have each evening, I'd rather be playing than writing lists).

Thousands of furnishings are completely reasonable because a player doesn't know in advance how they're going to build the next house they acquire. They don't even know what the house itself and the property it sits on looks like.
If a designer is going to be anything remotely successful, they have to have a huge library of resources to draw from. Will they ever need everything they're stockpiling? Of course not. But it's also impossible to pick and choose which you'll need for later because you simply just don't know what your next design is going to be. A poorly stocked inventory will only serve to limit the possibilities.
And with the weekly Luxury Vendor system as it is, selling high quality furnishings that can only be acquired from the Lux vendor once a year, no designer in their right mind is going to discard or destroy anything they've collected from there. As well, the Lux vendor introduces a brand new never before released furnishing every week, dumping even more items into the inventory management.
Sure, craftable furnishings can be discarded because those can be easily replaced, even if costly to do so. But there are entirely too many furnishings that you can't craft. Lux vendor, event specific drops, furnishing packs, crown purchased furnishings from the housing editor, etc..
