“In 2023, our #1 priority—besides shipping Necrom and Infinite Archive—was to make the service more stable.”

That didn’t pan out well in 2024.

Forgive me if the promises of QoL/performance improvements, in lieu of new content, isn’t well received in the 2025 letter.

they do this every year. since the great "year of performance". It is what it is at this point. But as always its pretty crazy to see the "were working on it, trust us" after 10 years and things only getting worse. Ive always felt like they could fix it but they dont want to shell out the money needed to do it. I find it very hard to believe that a company like this cant get to the bottom of it. Theres just no way.

I don't trust ZOS at all. If U35 taught me anything it was that. "Raise the floor", turned out to mean nerf everybody. And lately it was "Housing update!" and I got home tours...

The details and quality of the releases have been going down for years. Gold Road isn't as good as Necrom which isn't as good as High Isle. All the while they promise QOL, bug fixes and stability which never really seems to happen.

    I'm no hopeful at all.

People who think 2024 is the worst year for performance have forgotten years where several patches had major bad launches, event extensions due to connection issues, and even rollbacks. 2024 has been smooth, but you never hear people say "Update X launched without crashing, wahoo" because it's the normal, expected behavior.

The only convincing counterargument would be a list of major server issues and durations for each year, which no one has posted and possibly no one has.

I hope ping is better in 2025, but it doesn't seem like there's anything announced for that other than plans for improved Cyro performance, which would be great for a lot of players.

it’s the worst in my experience for sure.

the number of people posting (and increased acknowledgement from ZOS) about the disconnects and lag has grown precipitously and i don’t think that’s coincidental.
