[COMMUNITY POLL] Should we have right to change our class?

Some people (like me) changed classes which they are not compatible with them when starting ESO. And; probably some people (like me) considered it was an option to change class afterwards in the game but; unfortunately it was not the case. So, I am stuck playing Nightblade Mage because; I maxed lots of skill lines (Thieves' Guild, Mages' Guild, Fighters' Guild, Undaunted, Werewolf, Vampire, Legerdemain, Alchemy, Woodworking, Enchanting, Clothing, Blacksmithing and Provisioning), and completed many missions with it. So, it is really pain to start with a new character and maxing skill lines with it, again. Ofcourse, I will not erase my NB Mage and will use it as crafting char at least but; I would like to have a main char which is also my crafting char at the same time. So, my question is if we should be able to change our class in ESO?

Or maybe we should have a reincarnation system. When we open a new character with new class, race etc. we want; we can transfer other character's all skill lines (not class specific) and CP points to this new character. After that, our previous character "dies". And, our new character gains "Reincarnation of <erased_character_name>" permanent modifier in character screen. This modifier is just cosmetic, gives neither buff nor debuffs. A character which is a reincarnation cannot be reincarnated, again.

I have reported this thread to be locked, let's continue with THIS one instead.

    Absolutely yes.
I do not have the energy to commit to another character with all that entails. I play my main only, the rest are just mules, and when my main becomes too boring and I wish I could try another class, I just take a break from eso instead. I've committed too much to this character (including outfit and armory slots), to find it attractive to change character - at all. For me, a class change option would be a solution.

Before the nay sayers come in saying you don’t need to, it’s about a desire to. Yes, we should have the OPTION to. As options don’t affect anyone else. It gives more player agency over their enjoyment of the game.

Hi everyone, just wanted to let you all know that we do not have any plans on implementing class changes tokens at this time. There are a number of technical challenges with implementing them, and it would take a significant amount of time to solve these challenges efficiently and safely.

we got a response in February 2023 about it.

i do want it, but doubt it'll happen.

Personally, I'm not bothered either way. I've no real concern over having such a feature as I have few qualms about just making a new character (Although, I will note that I will NEVER do the Psijic skill line again before maxxing out a mount... Good lord that is tedious)

The question is whether it will happen?

I don't think it's particularly likely, because making new characters is a way for them to sell Skill Lines, Skill Shards, Outfit/Armory Slots etc. In addition to the extended playtime that such an endeavor takes (Even if you get a friend to powerlevel you) which creates more engagement and more ESO+ dollars.

Meaning that if they DID ever create a class change token it would likely be ridiculously expensive.

You should probably phrase it as option, not right. The game doesn't need to offer things, what the game offers is the game, and with how the game is designed, I'd bet the class is the foundational level thing the character is built off of. You can change race and name easily since those aspects are built on top, but if the class is the foundation, depending on how the game works, that can't just be poofed into existence. I'd imagine if it was reasonable for them to do, they would have already likely done it.

Not a fan of this argument personally as they stated stuff like this for the alliance change token. Anything can happen, and if the players want it badly enough, like cross play for instance, it should be brought up time and time again.

I think it is more likely we will get a level up token to instantly level a new character to 50, if they go that route however all the morphs better be maxed out.

I say this because any shot at a class change token went out the window in my opinion the moment they added the various skill lines, skyshards etc to the crown store, if they add a class change token it competes with those existing cash shop items.

All those free character slots, are more than enough for one of each class.

You don't need to do absolutely everything again on your alts, sit down level the class skills and find out whether you actually enjoy the other classes or not, after that decide if your going to put more effort in or not.

Changing the class is like changing the very soul of the character. Better to create a new character. Do not implement this change, please.

I would class this poll as a petition as the question has already been officially answered.

While an earnable/purchasable class token or similar would be a good option for many players I'm afraid that boat has unfortunately sailed away and sunk.

Just because Alliance change worked out doesn't mean Class Change will.
it could happen, but it could take 5 or more years if zos does decide to work on it.

i would be happy to see it but i don't expect it to happen.

i simply repost Gina's quote on new posts about class change if i see them, because it's the only info about it currently.

    My fantasy:

Buy or earn a class change token:

    Step into Stendarr's Blessing.

Your new class is now available and you are now newborn and can choose a new path in life.

All skill points you have ever earned are here for you to assign.

    Just saying...

I think we should be allowed to change the class just like we can change appearance, name, race, alliance. But I'd much rather they'd give us more character slots! I have so many character ideas I wanna explore but I also don't want to delete any of my 20 lvl 50 characters... 28 slots in total MINIMUM so we could have at least stam, mag, tank and heal specs of each class if we so want! 20 is too little.
PC-EU (Steam) - Roleplayer, Quester, Crafter, Furnisher, Dungeoneer - Fashion Scrolls - CP 2100+
I tank on each class, my favorite is tanksorc!

I agree, let's hope that some sort of solution is possible. Who knows what the future might bring?
