Events you have no power over

Questing in Vvardenfell was/is pretty interesting. At one time I'm praising ZOS putting in somewhat intriguing plot and Race specific dialogue. But at the same time it's upsetting I'm put into situations where I'm powerless to effect an event or change an outcome.

But then the Guards come. The Khajiit become desperate, one of them is about to fight his way out. This is it, I'm the Vestige! A Master Thief! The Listener of the Night Mother! Defeater of Molag Bal! I'm going to free my people from these awful...

...nevermind, I'll just, stand here.

sometime in trial is very hard lots people no follow me direction i scream, i say ok why no shield up? they try to explain reason all above my head I start scream more, so sometime i remove group but depend if like say i found sharp wepon i like or aether dust or something today i usually wont do that but sometime really make me mad people not follow my scream direction and i really get sad but is ok just no control over, and know people must be not really smart maybe? hmmm how to fix this?2

It happens in every RPG...I usually play a healer even in single player games (when it's allowed), and I just facepalmed everytime someone slowly died in front of me because of some silly wounds. They usually didn't even look that life-threatening. Can I maybe cast a healing spell? Even out of desperation, just to show that my character really couldn't do anything to help? (I understand budgets and stuff, just find it funny.)

ESO at least sometimes has the dialogue option "can't you heal him" or something like that. But imagine how evil your character is when the options aren't available...they just watch others suffer while casually eating a sweetroll.

I think that comes down to the fact that no one can understand what the hell you are going on about

I think that comes down to the fact that no one can understand what the hell you are going on about

Yes. And it applies to all dies-at-your-sight scenarios. I'll spam my Springs and Purge on you... but no! That NPC was scripted to die. No free will. Full determinism. We're just players in already planned scenario. We do not own our heads or thoughts. We're just fulfilling said scenario being passive observers with a consciousness.

Yes that part of the quest was very annoying, I was ready to go into combat at the end.
Thumb was on first button of rotation, rotation would start 0.1 second after dialogue ended.
But no.

And it can be frustrated in other stuff too, people tried to rescue one guy who died in an mage guild quest in Oblivion, he ran into an trap. They found he would die anyway, even if you stopped him from reaching the trap.

The Vestige is not the Listener. He/she's just the Silencer. Big difference. Huge difference in fact.

On the upside, its better than the days of Skyrim when a stupid vampire would attack you in a town causing you to accidentally kill a blacksmith with a same inadequate targeting system and they were gone forever

In Skyrim there was the possibility to load a saved game and let the blacksmith live another 100 years until he died peacefully in his bed.

Or Oblivion where I had to reload because a stupid guard in Kvatch decided to commit suicide on my fireball. I am still upset about that.

I also tend to dislike 'NPC is scripted to die, you can't save them'. The one that gets me is Tim in Lands of Lore :P

Now that someone necro'd this I've noticed my image links are broken, most likely cause I deleted them from imgur years ago and those images showed a lot of context making the OP kinda hard to understand, but the gist of it was the Sidequest in Vvardenfell, with that Argonian turned Telvanni everyone loves to hate, and you tried to free a bunch of Slaves only to see them get recaptured without you being able to do anything about it.

You actually made me look harder and find out they do in fact still existed. The only reason the links were broken for me was the links starting with 'http' and not 'https'. One letter, lol. Well, too bad this thread is going to be locked soon though now that I fixed it.
