Computer not authorized - We need to spread the word on this:

Hoping to spread awareness of this to save some people a lot of time and trouble. The launcher is showing the wrong message when you enter an incorrect password now. Instead of saying "invalid login information" it gives you the message that your computer is not authorized and it's going to send you a code but of course never sends the code because that's not actually the problem. I know some people who wasted a LOT of time trying to figure out why they weren't getting the code until someone just by luck figured out their password manager was entering an incorrect PW and the launcher was just giving an incorrect error message. I tested this myself last night and can confirm the error message is wrong.

I've seen that message; it says 'this computer is not authorized to access the game' (or something close to that), but, knowing my computer is absolutely authorized, I just re-enter my password, being careful not to make a fat-finger mistake the second time, and it works.
A loss of, like, 10 seconds, max.

If the system is going to send you a code, you'd get the little window that then pops-up, with the box in which to enter the code, and you wouldn't be able to proceed until you entered a code.

But that isn't what happens with this message; you can just close the error message box and re-enter your password.

I wrestled through the same problem a few days ago - aggravated by the fact that it really was a new computer so I thought at first it was related. Glad to hear it's not just me.

Got the same problem, knew computer is authorized as I just restarted the game to check something after exiting.
I closed game and relaunched again, now I learned this is not needed.

Its another bug with the launcher where it complain about corrupted files, restarting it fixes the problem. If you let it correct it it might end up downloading the game again so best to close it anyway, if files are corrupted it will complain again.

Thanks for this info! I had this issue on Tuesday when I was trying to login to get the last tickets of the event. I waited at least 20 minutes for a code since sometimes it does take a little while when you actually need one, logged into my account online to make sure my email was set correctly (which also appears bugged because the account summary page keeps defaulting to linked accounts and it's an F5 gamble to eventually just get to the summary page), checked my spam folder, etc. Finally just said *** it and attempted to log in again and it worked fine. I'm glad to see this confirmation that it was a password manager issue (aided by a user error)!

I guess the text of the error message does not mention an invalid password attempt in order not to let potential hackers know whether or not they have obtained a valid username and password combination. However it is indeed confusing and I have had this a few times - forcing my mail client to reload.

I have this issue often and I do not have a password manager. However, I can not know if I mistyped a mile long password because I can not see what I am typing. It is so annoying - you can not see what are you typing, you can not save your password like the user name and you get an error telling you they sent a code - code never arrives, you are nervously waiting beacuse 11 people are waiting on you for the raid ... why is this so badly handeled ? At least let me see what I am typing, that would solve many problems, although if not this one, but still.

@ZOS_GInaBruno pls just a program like Two-factor Authentication (2FA) Twilio Authy, Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Cisco Duo Mobile, FreeOTP etc. etc. or key yubiko etc.

Nah it's broken. It used to show a message saying invalid password. Something got broken recently with the launcher.

I guess this explains why I'm not getting my code at this very moment. Must have missed a character when typing my password and was rewarded with this.

EDIT: It does appear I can just hit cancel and re-do it.

Yeah this hit me the other day. Mis-typed my password without knowing I did and it said the computer isn't authorized.

Since it happens occasionally with other games I thought nothing of it, but the email never appeared. I sent it again after 15 minutes, and again after that. Was so frustrating as it was a very rare day off during the week for me.

Eventually googled it to see if anyone else was having the same problem and yep there it was: you mis-typed your password. Nothing to do with a new IP or anything like that.

No. Please, no. I don't want my password saved between sessions. Instead, they should integrate with password managers so we can use them without copy/paste.

Dunno why MMORPGs need save password immunity… I’m the only one with physical access to my computer so they should just allow auto-login like with the Steam version of the game to avoid issues like this.

Doh! That happened to me and I thought it was the VPN (which doesn't usually cause a problem)., I wondered why I never received a code and ended up just quitting and restarting, when magically it worked!

I also had a problem logging into the forums, even though I don't log out. Just got a pop up box that never got round to asking me for username and password. Again, not the VPN, but there was a workaround - via a link in the FAQ!
