Zenimax's new MMO?

For years we've heard about a secret MMO(RPG?) that has been in the works by Zenimax.

Apparently, the lead creative director of the project went on a podcast recently and said a few things about it.

What we know so far:

(i) The game involves a new IP. Whether it's an entirely new IP or an IP that's new for Bethesda/Zenimax it's unclear (a Star Wars IP would be new for Zenimax, but not new overall).
(ii) They have been working on the game for 4.5 years. People who have checked the timeline claim development started shortly after Summerset launched.
(iii) The game has about 200 developers on the team.

What kind of impact has this had on ESO's development?

i don't care at all. When im done with ESO, i willdone with anyother game from ZoS
In my personal opition, they forget what's real important for one company \game. And no, the most important it's NOT money.

Same I lost trust in them. I spent enough money on ESO because I love the game but I won't sure as hell not play another bug festival like this ever again. Only catering to casuals plus leaving core mechanics like blocking broken for weeks... Sorry but I won't even watch their new games trailer. Eso performance is horrible and I doubt their new game will be any better.

I would rather check Riot's MMO when it is released. I don't believe in anything under ZOS' production. It's not even about technical issues, I can accept that the game runs on a rusty old engine and the game's code is a mess. But overall direction and management is a mess and you cannot make any excuse on this.

Judging by how Elsweyr season was the last really good one - those are 200 ESO developers. Could explain why everything went downhill. Like, by Summerset launch Elsweyr should have been ready - so it was ok, DHoS likely had been almost done - so it was a buggy mess with barely decent plot, and Legacy of (a very specific part of) the Bretons... well... it's the scraps.
Or maybe Elsweyr was just more polished because of all the sand...

Agreed, Summerset was peak quality, and after that things started slowly deteriorating--Elsweyr was quite close, but after that we got a huge drop in quality across the game.

I expect that the games are independent of each other in terms of development team, budget, and direction. I expect that this is another Bethesda Softworks published game, like ESO.

The new game has pulled people out of ESO. To some degree, there is a flow of experienced ESO developers away from ESO. As I said elsewhere, this may be the best opportunity for low and mid level employees to get a promotion. Not that any of this shows in ESO releases, mind you.

In the end, this second game is a mix of different skills and personalities, so it may end up being a success where ESO was not.

And to add to my previous comment: the only new gameplay we had this year was ToT. Adding a separate game within the game is easier than adding new code that's more closely tied to the existing spaghetti. Especially when the original chefs are no longer with the team. That could explain why everything else is reskins.

I'll take a look at trailers when they present new MMO, because I'm curious about IP and about new games in general. And I'm so much waiting for the next ESO season announcement, just to see if I'm right about where it's all going. As for playing - as much as I loved ESO, MMO's are just not my cup of tea.

You need to tell that to the entire corporate world. Decades ago, they switched from "serve the customer" and "support the workers" to "generate profit for the shareholders".

And the financial industry and the shareholders reinforce this, when they do things like suing a company's board of directors for not pursuing profit hard enough. Or saying stupid things like "Oh, your company made 40% profit this quarter. But our analysts predicted you would make 43% profit, so that means you failed. Stock price goes down!"

I already start to invest 1/3 of my time to WoW (newbei) , at least they introduce new expansion with New Class, 8 Dungeons, 1 Raid, 1 PvP Arena, New Craft, UI update... (But unfortunately no card game and a lovely NPC yelling to all card players...)

My game time is still 2/3 owned by ESO. But sadly I am not seeing any lead/hint for what is ahead. I wish ZOS/ESO Devs gives us a roadmap, and also explain the situation about the impact of new MMO.

We all love TES Lore and the world they created, but feeling ignored makes us wonder...

For me if they are I wouldn't be surprised but at the moment i got 75 dollars' worth of money to give and i know it won't be for ESO as of how i have been treated as of late by support for the many bugs I have had, the lack of quality as of late by Zenimax staff and the last issue they had recently with a reskin of a Quar and very hollow sorry over it.
Once things change maybe but first fix the issues i have reported multiple times to support first and performance and such and God sakes fix your game in general then maybe i will start spending money on ESO again but that is a long maybe at this time.
Focusing on the casual player is ok but you also have PVP that needs work for those still around that do play PVP, but at this time PVP is for much part dead unfortunately in its current state. This due to both the company itself and the choices they made and the PVP community and how they treat other communities at the moment, you can't say that casual player is the pure source of it without looking at your own community and the attacks they sent by both YouTube, Forums and in game treatment. Can't expect to have players go to your game and play PVP when they treated as they are by both the Company and that community.
As for casual players they suffer also issue is we say little about because we accept the fact nothing will be done about it, don't get me wrong there are players even in the Casual realm of the game that do no better than some of the PVP community does to theme, but it shouldn't be allowed period.

And here is a video just over a month old in which the Creative Director of the project expands on it.

I buy High Isle expansion only because of Oakensoul ring. I did Story in High Isle and i only return in there to Scry.
I hate that NPC. Tales of tribute... omg :(

btw, Oakensoul ring should be FREE for many reasons
    • Devs know players have rotation problems.
    • Devs know they should do something about that... something like make rotation more easy...
    • Then why sell the ring, instead of add OakenSoul somewhere in base game to help players with rotation?!
    • This ring should be 100% free in Tutorial!

    edit:
sorry about this kind of offtopic comment. But i do care about ESO not anyother game of ZoS

Because Oakensoul was one of the selling points. Traditional bait-and-switch mythic.
