Should passives that add DoT duration be overhauled?

Since DoTs now last an incredibly long time, the only thing these passives do is throw off the timer alignment of skills. Should these passives be changed to add more flavor/be more useful to classes?
Add a Scribing skill that works like Arcanist beam.

Veteran players have been alienated and disengaged from Overland since One Tamriel, due to the lack of difficulty, and pushed into dungeons and trials; the minority of content in the Elder Scrolls Online. We can't take the repetition anymore, fix Overland engagement for Vet players. I don't even care if it's not combat related anymore, just make Overland engaging again.

Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 10 years. 6 paid expansions. 25 DLCs. 41 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. Make a self debuff mythic. Literally anything at this point.

    Yes, always hated them. The only 1 that made sense was DK's because it put their dots 4 seconds above the 10s standard, but now.. that extra 4 seconds only means a bigger headache.

    Point of the patch was reducing buff managment and time we spend looking at our bars. Imagine being a newish player on patch day 1 after trying to learn your class for the previous 3 months and trying to line up 24s DK dots with 18s Eruption with 10s Unstable Wall or 15s Blockade, maybe they throw in Fire Rune from Mages Guild which now does 26s or 28s?

    It's all over the place. A complete mess.

    It's too late. The ink is drying at this point. We can only look ahead.

    If they really wanted to revert, they would of done it week 3 or this week. Week 5 is final.

    Can't really do that either, classes without innate purges would be stuck on defense for 20s straight, casting Regen/Vigor plus burst heals constantly.

    This is a mess that can't be fixed with a workaround like that.

    Then shorten the duration while Battle Spirit is active? Not my job to figure out how, not saying to swing the pendulum wildly in the other direction either... just trying to communicate that ZOS needs to fix this... deleting entire skills, builds, class identities, and playstyles is simply not okay. Nobody in PvP asked for 20 second dots.

    Yeah, something that simple or those passives could increase the first 10-5s of a dot to be 20% stronger, scaling downwards. Like a reverse Venomous Claw. That way they have more upfront preasure, but more value over a longer period of time. Mix it up a bit.

    I think it's really odd that we don't have more "bursty" dots available. The only 1 that comes to mind is Burning Talons. Dots that have more pressure but last a shorter duration.

    I agree, I just think this whole thing needs to be reverted at this point. Thats a pretty good solution to reduce the time in half, but add more damage.

    I voted no, only because I don't think all dots should be/need to be the same duration.

    I also disagree with overhauling passives that have existed for a very long time just because ZoS is pushing these horrible changes through. The obvious and much better solution is to revert the dot duration increases/DPS nerfs.

    I think that the durations should be changed to match once the skills and passives are fully ranked.

    Make them all 20s (or multiples of). Yes it is less dynamic but it will make so much easier for lower tier players, actively reducing gap.

    I would suggest making all the associated buffs run longer than the damage portion, like Degen on live. 20s seconds damage, 24s buff. Higher tier players will get the most damage by refreshing on time, lower tier player wont loose so much by not doing so, actively reducing the gap.

    No need to add any more effects, as I see it those passives are there to add flavour to the leveling process not the skill themselves.

    When the timers were shorter then the extended time was welcomed, now that they are so long the effects gets too diluted making some pointless to cast on anything other than a boss.
