Anyone else having a similar issue to this? Was looking forward to playing in High Isle.

Maybe it has something to do with the box at the top of the screen, saying the servers are down?

Naaaaaaah. That can't be it. Pretty sure its UFOs electromagnetic fields interfering with internet transmissions.

NA servers are currently down. ETA 5pm EST.

EU servers are up and I have no issue logging in.

EU server is supposed to be up.
Black screen with only music here too.

Nothing to do with the servers. I play on EU servers, and it was an issue with the game client loading at all. It launched, then got stuck on a completely black screen with only music. HOWEVER! I let it sit like that for about 15 minutes and it eventually started and I got to the login in.

I got the "unexpected error" box pop up when I tried to log in, but when I retstarted the game, it loaded quickly and normally. So that is a fix, I guess.

I am having a similar issue.

I start the launcher, hit Play.
It goes through the company logo screens.
It gets to the login screen and automatically tries to log in.

I get a picture, with the three-circling-dragons symbol bottom right. For about 20-30 seconds.

Then there is a noise like a wave crashing on shore, but cut out suddenly, and the spinning dragons stop spinning and the screen just sits there doing nothing.uc51z85wfmj6.jpg

15 minutes and counting so far.

I have tried leaving it. This does nothing.

I have tried alt-tabbing out and returning. This simply causes the picture to be replaced with black screen.

I have tried closing ESO using Task Manager and restarting it.

I have tried turning the computer off and on again.

I have tried "repair" on the ESO install.

I have tried uninstalling ESO completely and reinstalling it.

Still I get the same issue, still it hangs at the exact same point.

This was not happening before today, therefore today's patch must be the problem - but why?

    What could possibly be wrong?

To be fair, it's a great screen saver, but, man, is it heavy on resources... B)

Are you still running into any issues with the game freezing or being unable to login?

Not any more. Everything works as well as it usually does now! The trick was leaving the frozen client alone for fifteen minutes, then by the time I got back, it worked. I couldn't log in, but when I restarted the game, it didn't freeze and I could login fine.

    No problems since then. Thanks!

I'm having a similar problem, except in my case the game crashes on startup instead of just freezing. I can't even get as far as the logos, let alone the login screen. It's only started happening today, I have been able to log in since High Isle launched, but I have no idea what could be causing it.

I've checked and updated all my drivers, but it hasn't make a difference.

My game crashes on startup as well, usually during the Bethesda or Zenimax animation (if it actually gets that far). It only happened since the patch, so whatever changed made the game unplayable on my system unfortunately.

I have seen one temporary fix, which is finding the "MaxCores" setting in your UserSettings.txt, and changing it from -1 to 2. As I said, should only be a temporary fix and it doesn't even work for everyone, but it's worth giving a try if you absolutely want to get into the game. Otherwise hopefully there is some actual resolution/patch for the core issue.

We appreciate the update that everything is working fine now. With that being the case, we are going to close the thread from further posts.
