What is your last interaction with a new player?

I helped a lot of players with PvP in Cyrodiil. Gear, build, tactics, sieges you name it. They all turned out to be great players and excellent team players. Of course, they were not 1 lvl new players, but they were new to PvP and/or Cyrodiil, so I guess that counts. Last of them was such a player and I interacted in the same manner with them.

Unfortunately, 90% of them eventually quit either Cyrodiil or quit ESO as a whole in frustration due to worsened performance issues in Cyrodiil, including that last player.

Haven't interacted with any new players since, as there are hardly many people in Cyrodiil for some time now. I am not as active as I used to be either.

Last new player I met was in Cyrodiil and we were both fishing. He/she got Master Angler while we were there. I made a new friend that day.

met 2 new players in Wayrest, lvl 12.
i gave both of them 50k gold (i felt like doing a good deed, because the raid i just came out of was a little rough) and said, go buy a horsey.

then one of them said, we allready got a horsey from the level up reward and i was like "ah yeah true, i forgott" and then i explained them the stable system and how important it is to level the horsey every day.

they seemed pretty happy and went off, unfortunatly one of them attack a guard on the way out, so i revived him real quick and went on with my evening

I spend much of my time looking for pleasant people who speak in complete sentences and outfit them in training gear, research items, intricates, fun collectables from events past saved up, and give 100k to 1 million gold away to complete strangers all the time. It's why I do 18 characters of writs a day, to mitigate the grind and increase the fun for newer players. Want to make a dwemer sailing ship? Here's enough furnishing parts to make your vision reality. Things like that. It's by far the most fun I have in Tamriel nowadays. Well, that and PvPing til the lag from resto ball groups gets too bad.

I was running through the Hall of the Dead in Windhelm and this low level player was having a hard time at it, so I help with the first boss and moved on, saw the he was trailing me as I moved on, so we hit each boss together, when I came up to a treasure chest, I used my staff to point to the treasure chest, letting the player loot it and then we finished with completing the group event.

The player started jumping up and down, I waited a minute, sent him a stack of soul gems and gave him salute, a text popped up saying thank you very much, I texted back with "Cheers"

Two obviously new players in a public dungeon struggling. Would toss one AoE on Groups while standing behind them and waited to make sure that they got a hit on every boss while I blocked. Got a whisper of "Thanks we just waited for everything to respawn because another high level ran through and murdered everything before we could get a hit or catch up." Responded with a friend invite and "Np we were all new to game at some point, some people just forget that."

I helped someone last night find where part of a daily (metal pellets) was in Clockwork City along with also sending a large chunk of gold to a lady I whispered in Lucky Ghosts stream the other week. She was trying to win some gold there so she could max out her, her husband, and her sons bag space; so I made it easier

It's wonderful though, even the littlest of things are appreciated by everyone I've helped, be it a few mats, killing WB's with them, or a myriad other things. Even congratulating a new player on how their mount or outfit looks always goes a long way

We have such a wonderful community here. Keep it up, you're all amazing

The last one? Hmm... I think it was someone new to both the game and writs that needed rye, so I sent them 200, or probably explaining the event as is done countless times a day atm lol ^_^

If newbies are polite and I see them ask for help, I'll usually go out of my way to help em out and give them a great start that'll encourage them to do the same once in a while once they get their bearings. We shape our community by setting a standard and being nice and helpful right off the bat, that's why we have the best players/community of ANY game I've ever been in. Lots more like me too, and I looove eeet!

'Fashion Flexers' make great mudball targets. :*
Apparently, so does wearing soul shriven gear.

My last interaction was helping a new player handle a world boss in Auridon. Afterward, they messaged me some questions, and I answered. Then I sent them a guild request, and said they should take full advantage of what we have to offer.

Unfortunately, he was booted as the guild has a kick rule regarding online absence. A necessity with a guild a capacity.

I remember this new player accused me of stealing his skyshard lol he DMed me saying he had stood there for so long waiting for it to light up again. I replied that I was confused on what he meant and that I can't steal his skyshard. But alas, he blocked me before I could figure out what it was he thought skyshards do...

These are a couple of my experiences, only with me as the new player being helped by others.

When I returned after being gone a couple of years I was looking very lost in town. The controls in this game are so different from other games I've played that I kept doing stupid stuff like accidentally attacking guards. Plus I was on a new character so learning a new class, too.

Another character noticed my distress and gave me a set of armor and more importantly encouraged me to not give up and that I would figure out the controls and be able to play again. Since then if I see someone struggling or asking for help I do something nice for them and tell them to pay it forward.

Not long after this I ran into another player while fighting a World Boss. He asked if I wanted to join his guild and it seemed like it would be a good fit so I did. But immediately I was bombarded with "First let's get you a monster set, and farm for this set and that set and do this and that." I know he was trying to be helpful but it was overwhelming and I ended up leaving the guild later that day.

I guess the point of this story is help, but don't overdo it.

I was playing with a friend who is a very new player. He's almost level 20 and I still have trouble getting him to change his armour or put points into skills... sigh. I just make him a purple set every now and then. Not doing training traits since I don't want faster leveling until he understands the game better.

Then don't craft him purple gear - you take away the chance for him to actually appreciate the quality of the gear, if he has never experienced how bad normal white gear is. I've made this mistake in the past quite often a long time ago - helping newbies out with gear far beyond what they could get by themselves in a year - and pretty much none of them got really far. The experience to be bad or not good is necessary to make them want to learn more and get better. You basically hinder them making this experience early enough by providing them with gear, they wouldn't have at their level in the first place.

i would agree with that, there are plenty of friends and people ive helped, what i do is make suggestions for "todo" list but i dont put any kind of pressure on needing to "do it now" type of thing

everyone runs the game at a different pace, everyone only has so much time, and a new player getting started in here its like your first day on a new job and spending that first week getting info-dumped because this is such a huge game

what i usually try to do is give them suggestions on how to get past something that they are getting stuck on, or spot them some gold or craft gear and try to let them learn at their own pace

i usually try to go by the proverb "give a man a fish, feed him for a day; teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime"

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (fully filled out with current game), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

in progress: acquiring mundus stones (currently only have the thief)

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

I regularly run new toons up to level 10, then farm dungeons to 45 and 'retire' them due to the ESO+ design bug where you can't opt out of DLC dungeons. I've had so many people try and give my new toon gold or help that I now try and remember to set an outfit early on so I don't have to keep telling them I'm CP lots and it's an alt. But it's great to see it happening.

I usually end up making armour for people or sometimes we'll get a newbie in guild chat either complaining about the usual awful dungeon express train experience or asking if at level 30 or 40 they are able to go do dungeons, so we'll do a gentle roll through a few of the easier ones either as a guild group or two handing it taking one of my tanks along.
Too many toons not enough time
