Maniacal Jester Personality Idle Animations

hey today i saw someone using maniacal jester. personality looks so cool by its own but there is an idle animation that put the maniacal jester hammer on his shoulder. but today i saw someone doing the same animation with his own sword. is it possible ? or just exploiting glitches? i know that if you block while doing emote you use your weapon while emoting but will hammer disappear?

this is the original idle pose

It's possible he's using the weapon glitch you can do with a lot of emotes and personalities. Such as the Swashbuckler personality.

You have to do the emote then almost at the same time click block. It causes the emote's cosmetic weapon to vanish and your own weapon to appear instead. It's pretty much only useful for screenshots.

    OMG IT'S POSSIBLE?

That was my main decider on whether I wanted this personality or not. I've been wishing for a weapon-on-the-shoulder emote for ages, and I was wondering if the Manaical Harlequin would allow for that.

For most emotes, if you block while casting the emote (possible with addons or hotkeying them), you'll keep your own weapons out. They did patch that once, and there was such an uproar to get that reverted since it's great to use your own weapons in emotes. Still, it doesn't always replace the prop weapons they use in emotes.

However, there are some edge cases where it is possible. It's possible with Swashbuckler's /idle3: The idle loop is them holding the sword in the ground, but there's also a 'setup' animation where they get the sword out. If you block cast the whole animation, you just clip your weapon through the prop one. But if you time it perfectly, you can cast the emote then tap block immediately to cancel the animation and go right to the idle loop. Since the prop never got pulled out, it just fully replaces it with your weapon.

    Default, Block-cast, and Block-cancelled

Again, doesn't work for everything, but it seems to work for looped idles with a weapon where there's a setup animation where the weapon prop is generated... just like Maniacal /idle2.

I was really hoping that this would be possible for the new one. If we can replace the jester mallet with our own weapon by exploiting this animation cancel, that basically would make that personality worth it to me. I was hoping someone would test it.

I have an additional question for this personality. Are the hammer and dagger animations blended into the default idle stance, or is it more like the swashbuckler, where you have to specifically emote them? Please say it's the latter.

I had a glitch once when I used the vampire ultimate (Blood Scion?), where after the ultimate was over I stayed gigantic but in my regular form for a short while. Maybe that guy was just glitching through no fault of his own.

*Edit* I might have been using the spriggan polymorph, but I don't remember. In any case, it was a one-time glitch that I've never had again.

i think it works like swashbuckler. not sure but i was around with this guy for a long time. and he just stayed at normal idle. i dont think they got triggered unless you emote them. again not sure but this is what i saw. and about him being giant, he was a necro and when i checked on the internet there was couple of bone goliath bugs that gives the same effect. thank you all ^^

Honestly few. I got it on my fourth.

Actually really happy since I didn't really want any of the apexes besides this, and Pacrooti was really generous with the bonus cards this round too. Guess he heard me saying I was disappointed and wanted to give me a reason to keep giving him money 😂

Did a bit of testing, and the prop weapons are actually inconsistent at spawning, which means that not only can /idle2 be replaced consistently, but I also had a lot of success replacing the dagger for /threaten and /taunt as well. This is opening up so many storytelling doors (an emote to put the weapon on the shoulder AND to look at the weapon? THANK YOU ZOS!).

I will say, if you enjoy storytelling/RP/screenshots, this is actually a good personality. Still think it's a bit overpriced (but thank you Pacrooti!) In the end, it's kind of a less-over-the-top mix of the old Jester and Drunk personalities so it'll be a bit more appropriate for RP and the fact that the prop weapons replace easily makes it great for showing off my weapons as well.

I grudgingly have to say that this is better than I could have hoped for and also I'm begging ZOS that if the weapons are glitched, to keep them this way since it's so much better for storytelling.

Granted I didn't keep it idle for too long, but I didn't see him pull any weapons out until I told him to. It does seem like there are two different versions of /idle3 (one where he spins), but those I couldn't manage to cancel the dagger and replace it with my weapon.

Maniacal jester personality does not work. It constantly reverts back to the normal neutral personality. Please fix this or reimburse those who have it.

    Greetings,

We have closed this topic as it was originally created in September 2021 and the information may no longer be relevant. In many cases, it's better to create a new thread on a topic that you want to discuss as opposed to bumping one that is rather old.
