I think the developers broke weaving intentionally to show us what would happen to the game if it was removed, and it didn't end well

Seriously, many people -including me- stopped playing until it's fixed so it's not really a good idea to remove it, not healthy for the game. You can literally see the statistics, it really made lots of people stop playing. Some love using the argument "animation cancelling was unintentional" or even call it an exploit, however if it's proven to make the game better for most of the playerbase, it should stay. I don't remember who was it but someone on the forums said "let's stop using penicilin since it's discovery was unintentional"
