Templar Backlash (Purifying Light/Power of the Light) - Live vs PTS?

So Templar has one delayed burst skill, Backlash, which already was harder to use than other classes' as it required sustained damage dealing on your target. Now we see this:

Backlash:
Fixed an issue where this ability and its morphs stored much more damage done to the target than the tooltip stated. This will make the ability require more damage, particularly in PvP, in order to reach its maximum damage.

I need to see how this compares between Live and PTS. Unfortunately, I'm on console and can't test it myself. With all the other Templar nerfs this patch, if they also completely neuter our delayed burst skill, things are going to be very rough in PvP, especially for Stamplars.

They need to change backlash for pvp. Compared to Necro and warden burst still it is terrible. Needs more of a front end damage burst to help it.

Be safe and have fun 😁

So what is it doing now? How is it storing the damage such that it is OP?

It is storing a higher % of the dmg on live than the tooltip states.

Its noticeable when you put a lot of dmg into someone like a shieldstacking magsorc, that soaks up a lot of low-mitigated dmg.

Less so aganist tanky players that dont take much dmg to begin with.

Imho they need to rework the skill completely, this whole stored dmg thing has been a mess since its inception.

At one point you could guarantee max explosion dmg that also ignore battlespirit, still have the screenshots of my backlash hitting players for over 24k dmg, even though i didnt even do dmg to them.

They should either make it a utility skill, or make a true delayed burst skill with none of this stored crap, and actual dmg.

Good that they’re fixing something that was broken and working better than it should have.

Ive seen it hit for 8k+ on tanky targets too. Its good that theyre fixing bugs, but this will push this skill back to mediocrity for sure.

Templar has no burst damage skill for PvP as of Stonethorn PTS. The explosion is hitting for laughably low amounts in PvP on PTS and the fact that skills like Blastbones and Scorch are AoE and guaranteed to explode for their entire tooltip without having to "build it up" is a testament to how poorly ZOS treats Templar balance-wise.

Guys this is just an obvious ploy to sell more wardens and necros. ZOS just needs to make Templar playstyle more an uphill battle to make that Necroden grass look a little greener.

If anything they should increase the % it absorbs, it's already hard enough to get any real damage out of it on live
