Is Cyrodiil way too *** big? It’s bloated with vast amounts of useless space. It would be much more fun if I could get to killing *** right off the rip. Battle grounds would be a solution if it wasn’t team based. I’m a lone wolf, a real hunter, a true warrior. I’m not trying to be the best at arena sports

I am sure there are others that agree with you but it is intended to be vast by design. Many reasons including death in a fight where you have to res at a keep are more meaningful vs just hopping back into the fight.

For the most part, one just needs to travel one keep to find PvP. Transitus to the closest keep not under attack, use rapids, and you will be in the fight in just moments. I say that as someone who spends probably about half their Cyrodiil time running solo. Small group if not solo. The design should work well for a true hunter being that hunting one's prey is a big part of the challenge for most real hunters.

    ... I’m a lone wolf,...

You are doing fine then !

    giphy.gif

Jokes aside, try/learn to read the map. There are always ressources which are turned and ppl running from keeps. Had a lot of funny "duels" that way. And if you don't die, you can repeat that for a loooong time. But be prepared for some zerging or 2/3vs1 against you. It's a "war" in cyrodiil.
Therefore no place for lone wolves, true warriors or hunters. Your place is in alikr desert @ bergama wayshrine  Duel spot #1.

Making the zone smaller would in large part take away from the strategy that remains. if everything were a short ride there would be no reason to cut off keeps and fun things like that. Flipping the mat would be pure size of force even more than it already is.

A better job at making the point I was attempting to make of the problems a smaller map would bring.

As a lone wolf there is a lot a player can do. Reading the map as Lisutaris mentioned helps with finding the action. While I am not into ganking, I do enjoy hunting the gankers. Also, going off and taking resources from enemies brings in those enemies and can lead to some fun fights. Sometimes hunting is setting a trap.

While Cyrodiil offers some scope for a lone wolf, it's also primarily designed for group PVP. The best way to jump right into the thick of things is naturally going to be to join an active group. Unless you like zerg-surfing, most of the solo-oriented activity in Cyrodiil is going to involve waiting on fights in less populated areas, such as flipping a resource and fighting the players who come to take it back, or hanging out between keeps hoping people fight you.

Long ago Imperial City used to be a good place to play solo. That kind of got wrecked over time.

Oh, sorry that we didn't agree with you.

A smaller Cyrodiil would negatively impact a lot of major gameplay aspects I'm guessing you aren't too interested in. It would be much harder to crown or dethrone an Emperor. It would be much easier to run a scroll back to its temple/keep.

It would make organized raids much more dominant on the map, since they tend to move very quickly. It would encourage quick PvDoor at keeps in order to avoid defenders riding in. It would diminish the importance of those fun chokepoint fights at the Alessia bridge and Chalman Milegates because its faster to ride around them.

About the only absolutely positive thing this change would bring is that I'd have less room to run when I get stuck in combat.

Wait... did... did the OP really just say that "good players" necessarily have attention deficit disorder?

.... and there went any degree of seriousness with which I could treat this thread. Sorry.

Because we have different opinions on the matter and enjoy having strategy being part of Cyrodiil does not mean we did not miss the point. BTW, good players know where to find the action quickly. They know how to read the map and how to find action on their own as several of us have mentioned.

Eh, as someone whose only interest (and only briefly at that) in Cyro was to get 4 characters through the fishing there, I actually LOVED the breadth and depth of the zone.

Especially since I was pretty much alone there the entire time. I did truly enjoy the whole area though. Beautifully realized.

Nah, I like how big the zone is. Means when I want to go there to do non-pvp stuff, like collecting the skyshards, it's easier for me to avoid running into enemies.

I’m now ok with keeping Cyrodiil the oversized way it is now. Upon further reflection and taking into consideration the things people have been saying, I realized what we truly need is battle royal mode for bgs

I'm guessing more like you need that one last skyshard and you are tired of dying before you get even half way to it. Got news for you. A smaller map isn't going to make the NPCs guarding that shard any weaker.

If we shorten the name that might help it appear smaller. What if we hip it up some and start referring to it as simply the 'Diil

I've been riding through Cyrodiil with one character (to collect all the skyshards except those behind he walls around the enemy bases) and never met more than 4 people let alone a battle.
First time I came there for the tutorial my first reaction was "where is everyone?"

hahahaha - you never disappoint making my day - going there to do fishing, ignoring all the rest - love it.

Cyrodiil was made for larger factions.

Not entirely sure but I think it used to be 600v600v600, whereas now it’s 120v120v120. Someone correct me if that’s wrong.

Either way PvP has dramatically less players now which is why a “full” Cyrodiil is empty except for 1-2 lagfest keep fights.
