Supposedly its a traditional MMO security measure that doesn't really work due to people tending to give out their passwords to friends and family. Sure you can be *** and refuse but who wants to be a *** to someone you trust?

I know Guildwars 2 saves your password and auto logs you in when you start it. I do think its stupid not to have a password save feature, I mean they always send you an email with a special verify code if you log in on a different IP address. And any other problem will be local to the player and not really elder scrolls problem.

And that is the stance that security consultants everywhere spew out completely ignoring the people factor. And the people factor will win out EVERY time.

Yes, Starkerealm is technically correct, but people are going to give out password anyway since its a people thing.

And the whole point of this thread was about launchers should save your passwords for autologin. I was just saying that the having to enter the password in every time on a program on your computer is just a waste of effort for security purposes.

Edit* That's assuming that the computer the game is installed in is actually in a place you trust, if you are in a buisness or something and playing this game, well, thats both different and might be a problem for your boss.

Good point, but the first thing I think about in response is key loggers, which render you having to type in the password every time a strike against security. So its you're dammed if you store your password, and you're dammed if you don't.
