If I use a container, the logical thing to do is to move to the next item in my inventory below that previous container.

But no, you go straight to that purple furniture plan that my lvl 7 has no interest in ever making.

I should submit a ticket every time it happens, I'd have 75 open tickets by now.

This is why I open the "2nd" anniversary box in my list, that way the "new" item that goes to the top of the list is at the top, and I'm clicking on the next box, rather than the plan.

Or... you can slow down just a little bit.

The behavior of the items is the same throughout the entire game, so I'm shocked you're surprised by it :joy:

Here's the thing: I've got 200+ containers over 20 characters to open every morning while I do my actual job. I don't have time to slow down because of some illogical nonsense that a major gaming company can't even handle inventory management correctly.

Another thing is that I'm on console. Input lag sometimes makes it so I don't have a choice that it opens the next item automatically, without warning. At least PC players can sort to only show containers in their inventory window.

They should just make furniture plans and recipes account wide. 99% of players use a single crafter character, so reading it on any other character is either accident, or it was trash. Lower the drop rate a bit, then it wont matter which character accidentally read its.

Could even make certain common recipes that drop from daily writs stop dropping once collected like Battleground style pages to avoid clutter.

What do you mean correctly? It's the same system for the entire game.. so it's not like it's different just because it's the anniversary event. (If they had changed it, you might have a point)

Yes, I'm on furlough right now for my work because of the virus, but when I'm at work, I absolutely , unequivocally cannot be on ESO while I do so. So your problem of having "split attention" and click through quick is the very definition of a "first world problem" and I feel absolutely ZERO sympathy for you in that case.

Imagine how much more productive we could be if we actually worked while at work :joy:

You are seeking to blame ZoS for your own problems, and I suggest you find a personal solution to it, rather than blaming somebody else.

There is a difference between knowing how it works and accidently hitting a button when you don't mean to.

I know that the guild traders have easily steal-able stuff all over their stalls, and I know that if I'm not careful I'll have a bounty.

But that doesn't mean its not a dumb system and people constantly steal stuff accidentally.

I refuse to believe this is my fault, and you seem to hate victims as a matter of course.

what does that have to do with anything?

be thankful you still have a job. many people don't.

be thankful you are able to do other things while at work. many people can't.

be happy your biggest "problem" is that you accidentally click on the wrong pixels on a computer game and a different character knows a plan. (which you'll probably get again on another character).

    priorities man... priorities. [snip]

priorities man... priorities. If you get this bent out of shape over this... yikes.

I'm not bent over shape anymore than usual. Look at my posts. I treat all issues like this. If it bothers me, even a little, I post on the forums. Who else is going to care? No one. I'm happy I have a job, and I'm happy I'm able to work from home (I've always worked from home so no change for me)

I try to be careful when clicking these boxes, I do start on the second box most times, but that still leaves the last box, and It doesn't fix the illogical inventory selection that this game has.

I am allowed to be irked when the game is in the wrong, even when there's precautions against it. Just because others have it worse doesn't mean I'm not allowed to complain.

You can refuse to believe you're not wrong but you're the only one opening the boxes and if it was just an accident then you should slow it down and do better next time. 200 boxes over that many toons doesn't = a *** system. It means you and you alone are the only one to blame.

Yeah, I try to be careful, but I ate a welkner chest yesterday on one of my Alts. Grr....

My solution when I remember to do it is to make sure you click on the containers tab before you start opening. Only works with advanced filters addon I believe, but usually it works.

Please, I've argued with you on almost every post I make. If you don't somehow respond to every whiner on these forums I'd think you'd have a heart attack.

Just because there's a work around to a bad system doesn't mean its not still a bad system. Why is this so hard to agree upon. It used to be worse before they rearranged it, with containers and items constantly rearranging themselves regardless of what item you used.

If the game moves the selector up instead of down, it doesn't matter if It was motifs or potions, food, or materials, it'd still be an illogical way of moving through the inventory.

If you've got 200+ containers you should know how the inventory system works and how you use it.

I could guess which side of the political spectrum you fall on.

Lol what are you talking about? Why would I hate you? Why are you trying to immediately guilt me and control the conversation?

You can refuse to believe you're not wrong but you're the only one opening the boxes and if it was just an accident then you should slow it down and do better next time. 200 boxes over that many toons doesn't = a *** system. It means you and you alone are the only one to blame.

It's just ad hominem attacks, coupled with some generalizing.

Yes, thats what both of you have been doing.

We're attacking you because you can't open boxes right? You're not a victim you're wrong

Well when you can't argue that the system is working perfectly, you simply attack the poster. I wonder how many of your posts involve telling people there is no problem and they are simply doing things wrong. I wonder how many of those posts you think you "won", non-ironically.

Agreed. When you go into "Automated mode" that happens way too many times. it is indeed a non linear behaviour from the ui.

Yes, thats what both of you have been doing.

An ad hominem attack is an attack on something to devalue a person's "value" or "expertise" on a subject on something totally unrelated to the topic at hand.

Your attack "I could guess which side of the political spectrum you fall on" is a prime example of this. Had nothing to do with the topic at hand.

There is no other reciprocating type of ad hominem attack towards you... they were all very specific and very pertinent to this particular example of you clicking too fast through your "free rewards".

I'll be stepping away from this thread. It no longer affects me, nor do I care. I don't want to expend my energy on it anymore. I have a solution that I use, I proffered it as a suggestion. You refused to take it, instead seeking to cast blame on anybody but yourself, and then claiming that it's just "normal" behavior for you. And then bullying and seeking to insult my political leanings (which you have absolutely no clue about, and I'm fairly positive you are absolutely wrong in your logic).

I'll leave with the same comment I made earlier. priorities man... priorities.

Gotcha, so you think everything should be catered to you especially when you're wrong and you didn't do something right and if you don't you're going to whine and cry about it on here. I'm glad you can at least admit when you're doing and your actual intent.

It's not a bad system, that's why it's so hard to agree upon. You don't just get to decide the system is bad because 99% of the player base can use it but someone opening 200 boxes a day can't seem to figure it out.

You don't even give an alternate system, you're just here to "woe is me" everyone. Nobody cares, there's 11 more full days of the event left. Go open so more boxes and instead of spamming through them, BE CAREFUL WHEN OPENING THEM. I know it sounds insane to maybe take an extra second when opening the boxes but it'll completely solve this problem.

The system is dumb for jumping backwards in the inventory for recipes. I too have eaten quite a number of recipes due to this poorly designed system.

There is not logical reason why the inventory should jump between categories when you still have items within the category you are already in.

This happens even if you are going slow. And since a large portion of the boxes do not contain recipes, the amount of times that you jump up to the recipes are enough to catch someone off guard even if careful.

That coupled with the lag makes this situation bound to happen. And this situation shouldn't even be a possibility. It was complained about a year ago, because it does not make any sense that the inventory functions this way. No sense at all. Why should it ever jump backwards? Unless the item is the last thing in your inventory. And please, other than "it has always been like this," explain to me how this function makes sense. It doesn't. And this weird move to defend it and attack people who are just trying to make the UI better is ridiculous.

The alternate system is that the game moves down on the inventory list when closing a box instead of going up to any recipes/furniture plans. I didn't think I needed to explain this as its how the game moves normally through the inventory. I wonder if you are even aware of the issue I'm referring to.

How the game goes through the inventory shouldn't really be up for debate, but here you are. It should be consistent. Period.
