It is 2020, and the game cant even handle cloaks and swiming LMAO.
The next gen is right at the door, and the truth is ... That the game engine is extremely outdated, it already gave everything it could.
Just take a look around at the most recent MMOS in the market.
Even NCSOFT is remaking L2 on unreal right now.
The most sensate thing Zenimax should do is to simple remake the entire game on a more suitable engine.
But, dont think they ever do it, what we see today in game bussiness are hive minded programers and developers who lack the ability or the courage to try to inovate. They simple follow protocols and " Alchaest premade builds " bussiness models.
Too much potential wasted, sad

Its just a thought, but it Might be a reasonable idea to let them complete ALL of the performance changes, and THEN complain if things run poorly.
But thats just my opinion
IMHO

Most companies use their own engines due to the cost. Ncsoft (I worked for them) have an agreement with unreal. They don't take a cut upfront instead they get x amount if cash shop income. Least that's how my director explained it to me. Eso could handle swimming and such IF that's what they wanted to devote man power to. Nothing us as simple as making a code. It's a complex web if steps to make anything g work in a game. Let alone a mmo.
Completely unrelated but I'm convinced you're a psychopath. You've been a dev for 26 years, community manager for blizz, dev for NC soft, CSR for some energy company, Apple support, and somehow you work 6 days a week at the firehouse? Everything you post is a lie.
Think as you wish, I simply have done more with my life then most mainly due to getting bored and trying to find a job that keeps me busy. I could go on and explain it all but I'd be wasting time. When it comes to what I have done you are assuming my age with no knowledge of it. So please continue to be ignorant.
