From an e-mail sent by ZOS marketing titled "Shop October Items in the Crown Store":
WIELD THE LEGENDARY HORN OF JA’DARRI
Available for pre-order, The Horn of Ja’darri allows the user to bring dragons to the ground, or at least enjoy their favorite beverage in style.
Frankly, I do not know whether the same or a similar item can be obtained during the course of playing TESO.

Regardless, it enables a player to purchase an advantage for their character(s) that other players' characters might not have -- whether the others can, perhaps, obtain the same item during play. This is not ethical. It violates the social norms of "fair play".

What next? A "boss killer" weapon available only by purchasing it from the Crown Store? Or can a player earn the same weapon by killing enough bosses -- that is, when the Pseudorandom Number Generator determines that such a "rare drop" occurs.

You do realise that quote from the email you got is referring to a real-life item from the bethesda gear store?. Click the link in your e-mail...

If you can't even spell sets, locations and items, you probably have no clue what you even are talking about.

    So, with more detail...

This is the e-mail you got the quote from. Sorry for showing it in German here, but that's what my account language is set to. It is the exact same quote, translated word for word tho, and it is the email you are talking about.

When I click on "Jetzt kaufen" (="Buy now") I am getting sent to the EU Merchandise Store to buy this 40cm tall drinking horn to put on my shelf in my real world living room:

I wasn't sure if the OP was trolling or not, so I decided to post screenshots before anyone believes that this is an ingame item and we have a derailed 6-pages-discussion about Pay2Win and how game XY is better than ESO. :D
This is the forums, after all!

No, I did not realize that. But thank-you for pointing that out.

There is nothing in particular in the ad for the Horn to indicate it is a physical item (sold by a retailer), instead of a virtual one (for sale in the Crown Store). The only way to discover that is to use the "Buy Now" link . Since I had no interest in buying such an item, whether it is physical or virtual, I did not use that link.

Apparently, my failing to recognize the distinction has been the cause of much amusement.:smile:

Given the propensity of ZOS to make as much money as possible -- by marketing, marketing, marketing -- they have become rather "creative" at finding items and "services" to sell in the Crown Store.
    1. Many, such as the Personal Assistants, are a convenience in contrast to a competitive advantage. The only items like that which I have purchased are Crown Mimic Stones (for crafting styles), and Crown Repair Kits (repairs every equipped item with one key-press to use the kit).
    2. There are several Crafting Style Motifs for armor and weapons which can be bought in the Crown Store, but cannot be acquired by playing the game. The "style materials" required to make the gear can be acquired for such motifs during the course of play. Also, Crafting Writs have never required any gear to be made with a Crown Motif Style.
    3. ZOS has been especially "creative" at designing the Homestead features of the game, in particular, to encourage players to buy "furnishings" (with Crowns) as well as the homesteads. Perhaps you have noticed the accelerating "inflation" in the cost of materials to craft furnishings? Even running a large number of alt characters as 'bots to harvest the materials -- else spend 16 hours per day playing them manually -- will not ameliorate that problem entirely, because many Style materials are not obtainable from the ore, wood, and fiber nodes.
    4. The most "notable" Homesteads cannot be bought with Gold Pieces. In my experience, those are available for only a limited time after the Chapter or the DLC in which they are introduced is released "live". I did buy Cold Harbour Surreal Estate when it became available for 1,000,000 Gold Pieces. (I don't recall that the Crown Store offered a "furnished" version of it, just the ground for Crowns instead.)
    5. Selling sets of Skyshards is blatantly "pay instead of play". It is only excusable insofar as a player must have at least one character acquire the Skyshards during the course of actually playing the game. If a character acquires only some of the Skyshards in a set, then the remaining ones are available for sale in the Crown Store (at least for that character).
By the way, the reason for the long delay in posting this acknowledgement is that all of the e-mail notices of replies to the OP were routed to the Spam folder by my ISP. I discovered them today when I decided to empty the Spam folder. ....:smiley::smiley:

You're way too cynical of ZOS, they may pack the Crown Store, but they've never, and most likely will never put in an item that directly affects gameplay like that.

But thank you for the giggle.

This is clearly a pay-to-win item. You buy it. You fill it full of strong drink. You imbibe from it. You feel invincible so you go find a dragon to pick a fight with. You insult its mother. The dragon kills you and wins.
