✭✭✭Contrary to all the trolls in this thread, the op is clearly talking about how the items were bound, but more importantly how they are nearly useless if you open them on a low level, and due to being bound the chest within a chest could not be passed to a level 50/160CP.
The customers of this game appreciate the free items, I think they just wish ZO$ was a bit more forthcoming with how the mechanics of the event work in regards to opening loot boxes.
My GF was on an alt leveling when she opened the chest within a chest (I forget the name of that particular loot) and was also upset that she could not pass it to her main.
If armor/weapons are going to be part of the "treasure", that should told up front to ensure the player knows to open them on a level 50/160 CP. Or, make the item account bound so it can be passed. Then they player can send it to a level 50 character to use the armor indefinitely, which is why they are upset.

I learned this truth very early on with character bound items getting stuck on the wrong character. Treat every crate/box/gift as though it is character bound and open on your main. If it isn't character bound, no big deal, just pass it to the character you want to use it. Fraedda (my DK Nord main) opens everything, then puts it in the bank or house storage container for her brother/sister characters to use.
Learn from this misfortune and avoid future grief.

For completing the amount of dragons killed during the event. Everyone having Elswyer got 10 crates with items worth around 1 million gold. Including unique training dummy etc.2 -

Like an idiot, I opened my boxes on a level 20 toon, except I kept my sets in their boxes. I'll open them when that toon hits 50 and hope I didn't bork things up too badly

✭✭✭✭✭I opened the first crates on my only 50/160cp. I didn't want any of it for her. So yeah, bummed - I might have a 50 someday on that account that one of those sets might work for, but I doubt it.
So the others, I opened on a level 30, and the mains on my two EU accounts - a level 18 and 20.
'cause y'know.... those level 30, 20 and 18 sets will be a LOT more valuable to me on there than a bunch of "meh" sets at 50/160. See.... I have GOBS of alts who can use those lower level sets FOREVER.1 -

True, but I'm way too lazy to farm two more Darloc Brae pieces for my khajiit to finish the Thieves' Guild quests and the Alfiq set will save my crafter a little effort when it's time to gear this current level 20 up.
My little "vacay" in SWTOR-land opening Galactic Command crate after crate has left me with a whole mountain of decision fatigue I'm glad to delay any more of these kinds of decisions for a few weeks

As I do with all boxes containing gear if any of them can use it..the crafting stations can be placed in your house so they can be used by all chars also0 -

FYI bound items are bound to the account not to a specific char.

GenjiraX✭✭✭✭✭I, thankfully, opened them on my lowest level character because I didn’t stop to think what the consequences would be. If I had, I’d’ve opened them on my highest ranked character and have three completely useless armor sets that I’d never use on 50/160+ characters. ✭Every MMO I have ever played you have had to open stuff on the character you wanted to use it or get the achievement on, especially gear. Them making all the rewards account bound was an awesome thing to do and not something I've seen in the other games I've played.
Sorry OP, but the gear is really EASY to get in a couple dragon farming days so all it is not lost.0 -
