Auction House Issues - A Different Approach

Hello All,

I posted this in a response in a previous thread but wanted to possibly float the idea here.

I think most people agree the Guild Store is a poor feature executed even worse.

I'd like to see ESO put time into a Auction system that moves it above previous MMOS.

Here is my idea:

The 'Tamriel Trading Company' becomes a guild that sits beside the Mages Guild and the Fighters Guild you can level up your skills in this by being an active member of the trade community - posting items, buying and selling etc etc.

As you move through the Trading Skill line you can unlock perks such as reduced listing fees, and reduced % of selling items. As well as the option to set up a market stool outside of major cities, possibly grating you a small % of the trades that pass through it.

Its a unique way to approach the AH and it would give people the opportunity to explore a MMOs economy in a refreshing way. Some people may ignore it but others (myself included) enjoy the economic side of the game making money from clever trades and the rise and fall of material prices.

Id like to hear peoples feedback...

    Prepare for flames is all I can say. I like the idea and it sounds like it would be pretty cool.

    Only problem I see is that gold sellers would take advantage of that that market stool option.

    Here's the thing Marmalade.

    I like the way this is being done differently in this game. However, I do think you make some really good points.

    1. I would like to see guilds have more control over their listing fees. Being able to manipulate these to either maximize recruitment or maximize profits or in light of your idea, reward people who are posting numerous, fair, and thoughtful trades in their Guild Store.

    2. Speechcraft in previous TES titles was a thing. It would be nice to see it implemented here. Intimidate and Persuade (perks in the Speechcraft line) are here. Maybe Bribe comes with the Thieves Guild?

    I'll be honest man. I want more player generated content in this area and not developer intervention. I come from Eve Online where all content came from the players. CCP gave us mechanics and we did whatever we wanted with those mechanics.

    I like that ZOS has put the power in the hands of the players and not made it dependent on actions from themselves.

    Sorry man, I have to say, "No thanks".

    I understand what you are saying in regards to EVE but ESO is a different breed, as much as people want it to feel openworld and sandbox it is not. Content IS developer driven and due to that player innovation is limited.

    Guild stores would have worked IF they hadnt capped guild member numbers they might have been a player trade community of thousands that could trade. However joining 5 guilds and having to advertise in all 5 channels isnt a good system and selling your wares to 499 others is severely limiting.

    This system doesnt work, at all. The whole system seems feels like an after thought that has been slapped together at the last minute. No search function is a blinding error.. Its small things like this that define a game in the early months.

    How is it really in the hands of the players when there's ridiculous charges and fees on both guild listings and CoDs? I don't see it as "putting it in the hands of the players"... I more see it as "discouraging trade and encouraging mindless zone chat spam".
