I bought all the weapon packs. All of them. I don't have a single monster set mask or epaulet. I'm just not invested enough in the game to farm items, I didn't even farm for the outfit styles during the anniversary event. I just log in to do trials during the weekend and for the the event tickets and daily rewards (I missed a loooot of days this month). And, well, it's nice that these weapon styles and monster sets are becoming available in-game without RNG. Because yes, now we can buy the masks and epaulets with crowns too.

Just to say, I would have bought these weapon styles anyway for convenience, even knowing it would become available later.

Same goes for many of the motifs on sale in the crown store. They can (save for holiday motifs) be 'got' in game, either through grind or exchange for in game currency. They're on sale as convenience.

The monster set styles are slightly different because the helm & shoulder drops were time sensitive and most required heavy grind to get -- or high expense in guild store, without crown store availability -- instead just the weapons were offered in store. Now the whole package is 'gettable' in game through currency (tickets) and grind temporarily

Generally people complain about the price of exclusivity -- now about the lack of it...

Difference here is that the motifs we already know we can get in game, they never said the weapon packs would be avaible with tickets, once again its about the lack of information.

Hi there. You'd like to buy a new tv? This is our top of the range model, just $5,000.

By the way, in 10 years it will be worthless.

Thanks for the information, I'll take it in 10 years please.

I don't gamble so why buy crowns now. Or why get crowns when I renew my ESO+... oh I get that rinky *** free statuette. Some things should be exclusive on purchase. Meh

    __________________________Backstories:_________________________

Ras Kalik the Vestige, a renown Redguard warrior; He has been blessed to save Tamriel from Molag Bal’s destructive Planemeld while reuniting the Five Companions. His further accomplishments after defeating Molag Bal, has been to stop the destruction of Morrowind, the Clockwork City, return order to the isle of Summerset and create a new king in Wrothgar and a queen in Elsywer. These events have made him a living legend and continue to lead him into new adventures throughout Tamriel, as well as into the hearts of many ladies including the Elf Queen, Aryenn. Over many years of adventurous travels, Ras Kalik had become a loner, until he re-visited his homeland of Alik'r.

Alik'r and it's cities were overrun by the undead Ra-Netu and therefore he made an allegiance with Alik'r's own Ash'abah tribe. These Ash'abah with his help, cleansed the city of Sentinel in Alik'r desert and it's surrounding areas of the undead brought to life by the Withered Hand. After rescuing Sentinel from the undead zombies, King Fahara’jad’s personal bodyguard the Goliath of Hammerfell, who was given this name by Imperials in the region; was asked to assist the tribe after learning of the defeat of the Withered Hand to the Ash'abah. Kalik promised Goliath he would task him with fighting living enemies on the battlefield if he so desired. Goliath being a Yokudan warrior wields a massive sword in respect to the Ansei, a gift given by the Imperial, Cinan Tharn. Not many soldiers are able to wield double two handed weapons, but Goliath loves to get up and personal in a fight, so he also carries a giant maul, both weapons laced with magical flames.

Jux Blackheart is a master thief that masquerades as a Bard at the Sisters of the Sands inn, with his younger sidekick Lucky Hunch for pilfering and gambling during this time. Jux was known to infiltrate any towns bank vault he came across and even delved into Ayelid ruins without detection. Kalik can vividly recall the night he met the famed thief. Jux found himself rummaging thru a slightly inebriated Kalik’s pocket for too long, on a full-mooned night and because of his greed and the glimmer of his golden armor in the moonlight. He lost his left pinky fingertip as a lesson! But in return, he gained a new friend, as it was his first time since a child being caught red-handed...

Upon arrival back in the Alik'r after many moons of adventuring, Ras Kalik ventures to Bergama. Visiting The Winking Jackal, he runs into Jux Blackheart, who introduces him to the coin game Crowns vs Forebearers (Heads vs Tails) and Golden Dwemer (RBG).... Jux constantly takes gold from the unfortunate thru theft or gambling, his biggest gambling victim is actually his partner in crime known as Lucky Hunch the Gambler. Lucky doesn't mind losing any gold coins to Jux... as Jux saved him from Altmer slavers in Summerset, by stealing a key and sending him on a boat to the mainland years prior. Lucky spent years in slavery with Khajiits in Summerset and picked up the art of subterfuge, using illusion magic disguises and stealing there.

Kaotik Von’Daemon an outcast, and a half-caste between a Breton mother and a Redguard father. Kaotik become a pariah due to his conjuration of Daedra pets. He was taught healing magic during his childhood years by his Breton mother. His father due to Redguard customs exiled him from the desert, sending him by wagon caravan to be a soldier in the war in Cyrodiil. He happened to meet Kalik while traveling from Alik'r, during this long caravan ride the caravan he was in was ambushed in Bangkorai by a group of bandits. Kalik by chance was also traveling thru this area on his Auridon Warhorse (which was bestowed to him by his friend, Darien Gautier). During this ambush, Kalik was able to rescue five hostages from the bandits. Kaotik was the first rescued, and Ras Kalik also recruited him to be in the Ash'abah tribe. These core Ash'abah tribesmen may never be seen together in travel as they partake in their own adventures but they always know what each other is doing; as they frequent a hideout in northern Bankorai. Their hideout an old Orc castle ruin, is kept watch by Nuzhimeh and she passes messages written between them, and frequently they also enjoy her company and her bed.

The other men rescued were a Dunmer banker, an Imperial mercenary and two other soldiers, an Imperial and a Breton Knight, stating proudly he was an Akavir descendent. One of the Imperials, Cinan, claimed to be related to Abnur Tharn the Battlemage of the Imperial Elder Council (One of Ras Kalik's mentors in the Five Companions). Cinan Tharn was really Abnur's drunkard treasure hunting illegitimate son. He was caught smuggling artifacts out of the Ayleid ruins in Cyrodiil and the elder of the two Imperials was Tyrus Septim a retired Imperial navy battle-mage (now a Lycan mercenary living in the city of Rimmen) and guard to the Tharn family. As much as Abnur Tharn hated his half-sister Euraxia, he dislikes his bas†ard son Cinan more. Tyrus now a ruffian and privateer had been paid by Abnur Tharn to watch over Cinan as much as possible. Cinan Tharn a drunkard, loves to drink at least a quarter barrel of Nord mead before he raids various delves and dungeons for relics to sell on the black market. Cinan also plans to one day, run an illegal gambling ring... which he thinks will net him more gold for his wares.

The Dunmer captive shackled to the Imperials looked familiar to Kalik from his time in Morrowind.... and he recognized him as Tythis Andromo a House Telvanni slave-owner and banker from Vvardenfell. During a rough interrogation to Tythis, Ras Kalik learnt why the bandits accosted him. The racist Dunmer was providing slaves as soldiers for the Three Banner War. The bandits were trying to negotiate a lucrative ransom for Andromo and the Imperials.... Kalik did not need any of this gold and he could never set Tythis free as he did with the two Imperial soldiers. His past involvement with slavery and war crimes, made Kalik's blood boil. He chose not to execute Tythis, as he figured the worse punishment for this former rich and opulent slave owner, is to now be an imprisoned servant for Ras Kalik and the tribe.

Herzog Zwei the Genesis a reknown Imperial/Akavirri battle-mage. His roots going back to Akavir through his mother’s bloodline. (His mother is descended from the Akaviri, through Versidue-Shae, and his Imperial father met her in Hakoshae, while traveling) Herzog earned the nickname "the Genesis" from his father as a child, as he was his mother's first born child, and last, as she tragically died in child-birth.

Herzog was seeking to purchase an artifact from Cinan Tharn, before their capture and was meeting Tyrus while in Rimmen, who introduced him to Cinan. This artifact being the Ayelid artifact; the sword Sinweaver. After their rescue and the exchange of gold to Cinan for the sword he decided to slip away before Ras Kalik could question who he was, and why the Akavir descendant really wanted that sword. Herzog was headed to Nagastani — An Ayleid ruin in eastern Cyrodiil. He had read in scrolls that the Sword would give him magical powers to meet his mothers spirit, if he performed an Ayleid ritual at an old shrine hidden there. Equipped with the artifact sword, he was off to start his own adventure but Ras Kalik, did indeed notice the sword however and instead sent a letter to Jux Blackheart (whom also was interested in Ayleid treasures), to attempt to find Herzog and acquire the sword. (*Azani Blackheart in Elder Scroll's Oblivion is Jux's descendant some 747 years later)

And so the Redguard, Imperial and Akaviri men parted ways ... While Ras Kalik went off to Elsweyr to encounter the latest threat to Tamriel, with Abnur Tharn and Sai Sahan - - DRAGONS!! Little did Ras Kalik know a few people were awaiting him in Senchal besides Sai. A necromancer survived his attack on the Withered Hand, while in Alik'r. The necromancer known as Auriek Siet'ka is also following him to the land of the Khajiits and Cacique the Sage of Ius a Shaman mystic who has become attuned spiritually with Tu'whacca (a Redguard God) and Ius (the Animal God), after being burned severely by the escaped dragons in Elsywer, is awaiting his arrival also. Aurik is a soldier of the Daggerfall Covenant that was introduced to necromancy while in the military, even though this magicka art is not spoken of openly by most of the Military leaders. He came to Alik'r and worked with the Withered Hand before Ras Kalik intervened on their plans. After the defeat of the Withered Hand, he aligned with the Worm Cult, and is constantly adapting and perfecting his necromantic arts.

After his journey to Rimmen, Kalik heads south to Senchal, in the southern regions of Elyswer. This new adventure will also put him on a path to meet a strange Redguard man. The stranger which was infected with an untreated Peyrite disease and also was the exiled from the Order of the New Moon cult, due to his sickness. He originally joined the cult to worship Laatvulon, the green dragon, mistakenly thinking it was the Daedric prince Peyrite. This confused and suffering cultist is known as Tsar al-Bomba and he is on a path to spread the disease. He was originally infected in Orccrest while recruiting members there. Can Ras Kalik and the shaman Cacique cure this poor soul, only time will tell. Little does Tsar al-Bomba know, that his infection is tied to Vampirism, and eventually the desire for blood will take over his mind. Senchal also offers Kalik his latest love interest... Aeliah. Whom he fondly led thru battles with the Dragonguard.

After the trek thru the heat, tropical and desert climate of Northern and Southern Elyswer, Ras Kalik heads north to the cold mountain range of Skyrim. His companion friend Lyris beckons for him with a letter sent by crow...

Movárth Piquine - a former vampire hunter (now infected), within the Fighter's Guild (and a secretive necromancer) was in Skyrim working with the Morthaal Guard. On a patrol mission he was caught in Frewien's ice curse outside of Morthaal with the frozen undead. Movárth's vampiric infection kept him from becoming an undead minion to the curse. He was able to use necromantic ice-magic to encase himself safely until he was freed with Freiwen, when the Vestige Ras Kalik broke the curse.

Uri Ice-Heart - brother of Urfon Ice-Heart. The twin sons of Atli and Oljourn Ice-Heart. The Ice-Heart family are originally from Markarth but now reside on the Jerall Mountain range near Cyrodiil, with their younger sister Araki. The twins had joined the Winterborn Reachmen while living in Markarth. Urfon pushed west to Orsinium with the Winterborn Clan, leaving his family behind. Uri stayed behind with his parents and sister to live in the family cabin for safety, avoiding the Vampire plague infiltrating the Reach. After news reaches him and he hears of Urfon's death... Uri leaves and heads home and is seeking vengeance. Meanwhile, his sister has also moved on to Windhelm to join the Fighter's guild. He will visit his sister, once before going to seek vengeance and she will craft him armor mixed with ice, called Stalhrim armor. Uri fearing death, after his brother's passing, falls victim to the convincing talk of Movárth at a Nordic tavern, and will also becomes a vampire.

Like I said in another thread, it's the Impresario part of the equation that should be changed. She should only have items for sale that are exclusive to event rotations.

Crown Store items in reward boxes aren't new and aren't all that easy to obtain, so getting the one weapon style you want certainly isn't a given. But if you want maybe one or two of whatever it's a nice incentive to run group content. No issue with having the weapon styles in the loot table.

The way the event plays up premade groups (To participate, simply enter a group dungeon with a group by porting to it or walking in) is going to make the event pretty easy. Just burn through a simpler dungeon. But if you want the head style you should have to run veteran dungeons, if you want the shoulder style you should have to use pledge keys, and if you want a chance at a weapon style you should run the dungeon once a day. The existing RNG bypass for the weapons is the Crown Store Arms Pack, and the existing bypass for the head/shoulder is a guild kiosk. The Impresario is an unnecessary bypass so all she should offer for this event is the four feathers and whichever berries are available for the quarter.

Just a quick note to say I have been onboard with many controversial decisions ZOS has made until now because business decisions and I can relate to that because my own businesses irl need due attention. And I love money also.

As i see it with crown pack items being now "free" without previous notice at the time of purchase that they would be later available for free (just need to put in time and not cash) in game means a critical line is about to be crossed. The ethical line thingy that should allow us to sleep well at night, every night, type. Because doing the right thing makes that special warmth in the heart to all of us.

This whale is no longer. Besides having bought all crown weapons pack and most crown items like all houses I deeply regret having bought this last 21k crown pack on sale just a couple of days. But it won't happen again.

Thanks for saving me money down the line with this game ZOS. This is my middle finger going BackandAngry at you :)

LOL kids you should visit some terapeutist. BTW you can buy crownstore items with gold from people who trade crown gifts for gold, so what is your problem? They give something for free and you have pain in the butt. I also own some crownstore monster motifs - so what? I will just get some I don't have, even if I would own them all - I wouldn't even care about this.

I would never want OP as a customer.

OP's rule is I can never introduce a new idea for my company without fear of OP feeling scammed and ranting in public.

I'd fire OP, return OP's money in pennies, throw OP out of my store, and file a trespass warning against OP with the local police.

Nobody wants or needs a customer with OP's attitude. There are nearly 8 billion other potential customers on the planet.

If you made a new product that I bought that was great I'd buy it, but if you then made it so that everyone with enough time could get that same product if lets say they collected enough pinecones then I would want my money back yes, because I dont mind collecting pinecones my man

I can cook you a steak and charge you for it, or you can hunt down a dear, butcher it, and cook your own steak for free. All you need is time.

    Your counter statement failed.

So with that analogy you are saying I should code my own weapons and use them in game? :S

    Nope.

You tried my steak. Now you can get your own for free.

I'm not giving your money back, and I sure as hell don't want my steak back.

I haven't bought any of these weapons packs but when I read the patch notes yesterday, I REALLY felt sorry for those who did. That's really not fair unless those who bought them get a refund. And if not, I hope all will hear about it and will just stop buying weapon packs from crownstore, as we can get for free in game.

If you choose to purchase the weapon packs in store, you can spend your event tickets on something else. if you choose to spend event tickets on them, well, you'll need to collect tickets per day, or purchase more event tickets from the store, if you want anything else offered by the impresario.

    See how that works?

Like a mount......Thats the only option. for those who have 30 reskinned mounts and were under the impression that it was exclusive, they dont gain value from the tickets.

    Its dishonest

    dishonest
    /dɪsˈɒnɪst/

    adjective
    • behaving or prone to behave in an untrustworthy, deceitful, or insincere way.
"he was a dishonest hypocrite prepared to exploit his family"
    • intended to mislead or cheat.
"he gave the editor a dishonest account of events"

    synonyms: fraudulent, corrupt, swindling, cheating, double-dealing;

Please elaborate on where this applies.

What you're experiencing is hyperbolic discounting and relative deprivation. It's a play on perceived, artificial 'need' that we choose to fulfil or not. Get your reward now or later -- now will always initially feel more valuable than later, even if holding equal or less actual worth. Others seeing that reward want the same or similar. Provision of later ensures a new cycle.

Thank you for the dictionary defintion. Whew, I guess I can toss out my masters now that I know what dishonest means. All this time, I thought it was a verb or adverb.

Its decietful to generator sales under the pretext of exclusiveness and urgency through a false time limit. They lured customers to believe the items were exclusive and unique. Would people have purchased as many of these sets if they knew it can be earned? Probably not. I would argue ZOS also new timeframe wasnt relevant and it wasnt unique, unlike unique motifs only availbe in store.

I understand mmos finding new way for people to keep grinding out previous content as end game content cant keep pace. Also I actually like the idea of people acquiring these goods ( though it will be grindy for sure). Yet I empathize with people upset thinking it was limited time or only availbale in store

Hey, limited time Jordans, only sold for three days. 1k each. One month later on the shelves at payless

Give it time, lol. I have had so many people ask me where I got my little imagkin monkey that I said, don't worry, you will have a chance to buy it or get it in a crate soon enough and Idc either.

Same people that don't understand how a company needs $ to survive.

W/e. Seems unfair though. Zos just being short sighted here. Shocking.

not really. i got my disappointment out ages ago, back when they gave away costumes and mounts i originally bought with crowns. and then there were level up rewards - I actualy originally bought the pets you get for leveling characters. and i mean... gave away for "watching" (aka playing in a background while you do whatever you feel like) a twitch stream. ever since then, when i make crown purchases, i remind myself, that its very likely they are going to come back at some point in a different form, or cheaper, possibly as gifts, etc, so do I want them right now, am i willing to wait and am I willing to risk not having it in case they do NOT come back and I was wrong about that. once I weight all of these considerations, THEN I decide if i want to just spend crowns now, or gamble with getting these items later.

in other words - this? is NOT new. that's why so many of us are no longer mad. we got used to the practice.

I think if you wanted the item at the time, months and months before it became or could become available by other means is irrelevant. You got it when you wanted it when it was available.

They've never marketed with the words 'this is exclusively how you get these'. We all just took it as the medium it was available in without question and either bought or didn't.

But I wouldn't consider this a scam. I think your definition's wrong. Sorry, don't agree with you.

They should have disclosed this information in the beginning. Allowing it to be available in game is great but all they needed to say was: "these items will be available in game for event tickets at a future time." Otherwise you end up with players who feel cheated. I've not bought any of these style packs but I was planning on getting Engine Guardian this month, but if it'll be available at another time I'd prefer to know now and save the crowns.

This is not the same thing as event tickets, mounts, pets or even houses that they have given away in the past. Event tickets were given out in game first as a reward and were added to the crown store later. On the other hand it was clearly stated that the monster weapons pack will be in the crown store for a limited period with no mention of additions to in game events. As a collector with enough in game gold, i certainly wouldn't have bought the weapons pack with crowns had i known that they would be available in the game later on. I certainly won't buy any more of the style packs after this point, and will just wait until the next event.

Some people have pointed out that they have given other crown items as rewards from in game events (like the dungeon event) in the past. That is fine, those were all bound on pickup. Ultimately the question comes in if the pages are able to traded or not. If they can be traded, and from the sound of it they will be, then it is the first time that zenimax does this and it will screw person that spent actual money to get the items, especially if the drop rate is that of the other style pages (mask, Shoulder). If it is bound and more importantly, almost impossible to get, like the houses and mounts from the other event, then it is something that has a precedent set.

I guarantee that no one who spent thousands of crowns to get apex mounts, would be happy if all of a sudden zos decided to just give the old recycled apex mounts away in an event, and you could even sell it to a friend. This is no different. If they follow through on this, there will be a new precedent set, one in which they can give anything from the crown store as a tradeable in game item.

Making them available with event tickets, is definitely unacceptable, as in this case, you get about 20$ worth of crown stuff just for logging in and doing your event. Anyone that paid for it, doesn't get to buy the style pages, they get no profit from the event. They lose once when they spend money that they didn't need to, and a second time, when they are sidelined from the event items with nothing to spend their tickets on.

Let's say you show up the first week to a new spinning/cycling studio and you decide to buy a teeshirt and a water bottle to support the company, and the launch of the new place. Then a few months down the line, they host an event for a week where anyone who shows up to a spinning/cycling class gets a free teeshirt or water bottle randomly each day just for attending that class. If they dont get one by the end of the week, they can turn in an attendance token to buy either of the two items.... however... anyone who already has a water bottle, or teeshirt.... well tough **** you dont get anything.

That is what zenimax is doing with this move, and they most certainly are screwing their supportive members in the process.

Question, are they saying you can get the actual monster sets like you would farm or just a cosmetic version of the real thing (Style page)?

The way I read it, it is just a style which I wouldn't want anyways.

If it were the real thing and you could buy it with tickets and since the tickets can be bought with crowns, That would definitely be P2W.

Hang on, people are upset that something that was only available for cash is going to be earnable in-game for a limited time?

This community has gone completely off the rails.
Alandrol Sul: He's making another Numidium?!?
Vivec: Worse, buddy. They're buying it.

Yep. I'm fine with my purchases of multiple weapon packs, it was delivered as described but I will no longer buy any weapon packs in the crown store because of this. Too bad, I was looking forward to engine guardian. It will be no cost to me by getting event tickets, the drops from farming or buying from guild trader. So why should I keep paying $25 per weapon pack? Ridiculous. Same sort of ridiculous as the "exclusive" white gryphon pet from December. I remember that. After they got us to gift things to friends, the "exclusive" white gryphon pet was available to literally anybody on the store. Then they tried to do that again with the pink pig. I definitely will not be gifting any crown store anything to people unless it's using in game gold converted through the discord. If they're going to advertise and push so many micro & macrotransactions on us, they should be consistent and fair. I know it's just pixels, and it's their store / game but it definitely feels scammy.

It would be pretty dirty IMO if they are putting stuff out for in game currency after making it look like a limited time deal in the crown store to milk sales.

They should be upfront about their offerings and not pull shady stuff. Slowly become a company I don't want to do business with. I've watched other parts of Zenimax/Bethesda go to the dark side and hoped ZoS would avoid the worst of it, but seems it's slowly seeping in to rot them as well. We can act like we don't see what's wrong with this, but it's pretty obvious to see a problem with the ethics of offering something "limited" in the crown store and making it seem like it's a one time or once a year thing then offering it for easily farmed tickets in the game later is. I mean, I can see that you would love it if you missed out on a monster set offering like I did, but even then, it's saying something that I still think it looks dirty.

The only two items that I don’t want to see in Crown Store or for tickets are the Beta Monkey and the Loyalty Senche. Even so, I wouldn’t get bent out of shape if they did. It wouldn’t prevent me from enjoying the game.

Give it time, lol. I have had so many people ask me where I got my little imagkin monkey that I said, don't worry, you will have a chance to buy it or get it in a crate soon enough and Idc either.

Im going to eat that monkey

    You people are insane.

Imagine you paid 6000$ for a very big in-game manor and then people who logged-in 3 days got it for free.
    Would you be happy?

No the insane one would be the person who spent $6000 on a imaginary in game manor.

"he gave the editor a dishonest account of events"

    synonyms: fraudulent, corrupt, swindling, cheating, double-dealing;

OK, I understand where your perception of the dishonesty applies. But, what you've described is a common marketing technique exactly as I identified it. I'm happy to disagree on exactly how we frame it, motivations aside, and I agree on the shittiness of it -- I never said it was a clean practice, but it is just that, a practice, a common one that isn't unique to ZoS. If you want to change the world, power to you... same time, though, the impresario isn't just stocking these, there are plenty of other things to spend your tickets on; I doubt the outcome would have been much different. Also, those style pages stocked do not cover all previously available. What about those?

As I said in a previous post, perhaps we should all attempt to recover the cost of everything sold via the store that is now available through play, or event tickets -- where will ZoS draw the line? The way i see it, they've made an error in allowance for this exception that sends a message to every player that this is a valid stance. I wonder how heavy that rod on their back will get when we all start stamping our feet. Maybe we'll change the world yet...

For clarity though, this is the entirety of OP's argument in a nutshell:
    mairwen85 wrote: »

Difference here is that the motifs we already know we can get in game, they never said the weapon packs would be available with tickets, once again its about the lack of information.
The problem is that ZOS didnt let us as customers know that these packs, that we bought with real money would be possible to buy in game with tickets.

    Sigh...

    So reduced, your argument is:
"It can only be permitted if known ahead of time; it will only be known ahead of time if permitted."

I still want my money back, because I can get those weapons no problem through grind

This is a different argument to what you present.

No longer scam -- just that you now are aware of a cost free means to the same result. Months later, and you feel this is grounds for refund.

While we're still on the subject of potential dishonesty... this entire complaint smacks of a disingenuous disposition. But, that's just my opinion.

I just assume anything I buy with crowns will be given away at some point. But, I had it then... I have it now, so I don't really feel cheated.

After all, I don't do alot of the DLC dungeons but I enjoy when they give away the motifs from them during events, because it saves me a ton of gold.
