Heavy Armor MagBlade pvp build

x_Demogorgon_x
So I want to try something I haven’t really seen yet. I want to make a heavy armor magblade PvP build. I don’t even know where to begin with sets and such. What do y’all think?
Worth the try to build??

I used to run a magicka nightblade in heavy armor, but left that class a year ago. So I don't know if this build is still viable, but it certainly is worth a try, I guess.

So many cool options you can try. Every pvp build should have two main things- survivability and a "win condition". To know where to start you should ask yourself why would I want to go heavy armor on magblade and how do I benefit from it compared light armor builds(health regen, max health) and also how to "walk around" some of the weaknesses of heavy armor compared to light armor. (sustain/damage/mobility).

mMagblade healing kit is kinda iffy, most of it composed of hots from debuffs. Most magblades use resto staff and healing ward for the burst heal. But to protect the heal from healing ward you need the light armor shield so you probably need to take a different route. You can either go for health regen build with troll king/ steed mundus, gold food or perhaps max health build
with purple food, skoria/Thurvokun and dark cloak(or a combination of both).

Now just add a win condition and you'll have a working build.

For example, max health version - Argonian, lover mundus,- 5 clever alchemist, 5 shacklebreaker, 2 skoria, all jewelry infused potion speed. purple stats food.
This setup will give you max hp, good amount of magicka/stamina, good SD(70% uptime on alchemist), good sustain(almost 12k stats every 21 sec from potions with Argonian passive), good ulti regen(NB potion passive), Skoria dmg.

I’d try rattlecage and combine it with a light armour set. People typically prefer 5x light for the pen and recovery, but getting major sorcery as a magblade is tougher than you’d think. Magblades lack the survivability to use sap essence. Maybe spinners?

You’re forced to use either entropy, which means a longer wind up to your burst, or magicka pots. There’s no major sorcery pot that includes health or unstoppable that’s worth using.

Looking for any guildies I used to play with:
    Havoc Warhammer - Alair
LoC EQ2 - Mayi and Iskiab
PRX and Tabula Rasa - Rift - Iskiab
Or anyone else I used to play games with in guilds I’ve forgotten

Heavy magnb is dead at the moment. I have tried a ton of combos and it just doesn't work. You either have no damage, no healing, or no sustain. It is damn near impossible to find something balanced and effective. Sets like CA are ok but it can really get annoying playing around pots. Other than ca heavy damage sets are hard to find for mag. Yeah there is rattle but it leaves you with bad stats and a 5pc that is accessable like 20 ways. Julianos is ok but also leaves you lacking in stats and sustain.

The two best heavy mag sets imo are crafted, shackle and IA. The build I have been running when I play heavy armor works ok, but sustain is always my issue. I have been running IA crafted heavy, trans jewels and back bar, and 1pc torugs for the spell power front bar and 2pc balg monster. It's pretty solid but I throw out alot of heavies. I have to run 3 spell power and apprentice mundus to get proper damage, so my regen is like 1100. Siphon strikes, ele drain, regen glyph back bar weapon, and heavies is what I use to get decent sustain, but it goes fast and you have to be mindful, cant just spam skills like in light.

I run heavy julianos/spinner/troll king on my heavy armor build. Or heavy julianos/war maiden/troll king with a precise weapon. Both are really good. The first build has more pen and the second build had 50% crit in heavy armor. I use gold food on both builds. My front bar is merciless, swallow soul, fear, drain, mage light, soul harvest and the back bar is path, shade, mirage, crippling grasp, cloak, (either version of Cloak works fine in this slot) resto ultimate.

Troll king is pretty much active 100% of the time making you very survivable while in heavy armor. The best race would be argonian or Breton for a heavy armor build. What you have to remember is that you can't spam skills like certain high regen light builds. You don't need to spend as much resources kiting with a heavy armor build because you can tank some damage. Just remember you are going to have to heavy attack more.

The damage is also really high my bow tooltip on the war maiden build was around 23k and I've hit as hard as 18k on really soft players in PvP and against most builds it crits for about 10k so plenty of damage. If you are use to playing light armor the biggest learning curve you will have is actually heavy attacking more in heavy armor to help you sustain. Once you get that down the sustain is really good.

This but I would run a destro as your damage bar and then your choice of resto or snb.

    Pros and cons of both

    Snb pros:
Can add to your tankiness by allowing you to block more.
Adds a little more resistances and resources which is always nice.
Can be effective against mag toons (reflect spell projectiles wth a skill)
A switch in sets and cp can allow you to switch to pve tank which will allow you to insta queue for any content you please

    Cons:
    Poor heals,
no ranged attacks (all meant to be up close)
Not very good when used against multiple targets. (Can excel in a 1v1 duel or bgs build)

    Resto pros:
    - Heavy attacks restore more magicka and heal
    - Mutagen highly useful if you’re solo or small scale
    - Healing ward to add to your heals and allowing you to have access to a damage shield
    - Allows you to play a Ranged play style allowing you to be able to solo more

    Cons:
    - you rely too much on healing ward as your main damage mitigation
    - lower resistances than a snb back bar
    - healing ward not very good if you Zerg or play with a lot of people as it could heal them instead of you

Borh Are good to use and I’ve tested both in cp and non cp campaigns as well as bgs but I find myself wanting to switch to light armour for that extra penetration that heavy lacks in open world. If you plan to stay in bgs, I would go with a snb

Sets!!!! I forgot to mention this before but you need spinners weapons and jewellery regardless. You lack the penetration otherwise. For body you can try a set like shacklebreaker or seducer. If you’re Breton, go seducer. Your sustain will be amazing. If you’re looking for damage, innate is good as well as julianos. Rattlecage will buff your damage big time so if you think you can sustain well enough use that.

For monster sets, engine guardian is fun and can provide a little extra sustain or you can do troll king for heals. Those two are pretty much my personal favourites on heavy magblade. Zaans is good for no cp and skoria is good for both cp and no cp and since you’re always applying a DoT the up time is always there.
If you have it, run the master’s destro staff. It’s too good not to have tbh.

So you could do one of my builds as heavy armor it’s just not as good.
    5 heavy +2 light
5 spinner, 5 piece sustain set of your choice ( I like willows path but you could try shacklebreaker ), troll king, lover mundus, 1 infused recovery & 2 infused spell dmg glyphs, citrus fillet you could use witch mothers but obviously not as good.
