Is Elsweyr refundable?

The recent race change suggestions by Zos has made me re-evaluate my future with this game. If the racial changes go through, I think I will just move on to something else. A similar thing happened with me in WoW and I did not really look back, so it's no surprise I would have the same reaction here.

Back before I saw what they were going to do with the racials (back when I liked the game), I purchased the the new chapter. I figured it was a safe bet as I have been a regular paying subscriber since february of 2014.

So is it refundable? I purchased it through the the ESO website. My ESO+ is not over for another 96 days, but that will be ending as well of course if the racial changes go through in a matter close to where they are now.

Actually mine is, from Greenman Gaming. I'll look into getting my money back.

That I've redeemed the GM key code on my ZOS Account Page with no reaction to that at all, is making this even easier for me.

I want my 5 years refunded too, thank you for understanding.

There isnt any race that is getting profound change.

Well, nothing stops you from submitting a ticket. You won't be any worse off than you are now.

I'm curious, what exactly about the race changes made you sour?

In regards to your question: Submit a ticket and you'll have your answer. I'd imagine they can just remove the mount from your account and send the refund.

Personally, I bet you continue playing and purchase Elsweyr again down the road. [snip]

I say give it a minute. We don't know that the changes they said this week are what are going to hit live. Until they are 100% official, give them a chance to make it right. I'm not necessarily having the same feelings, but everyone has their line in the sand, and you are absolutely entitled to feel however you do. My point is just not to rush into it just yet since its not official. I do think that with the amount of ticked off people over a couple of races that there will be further adjustments. If you do decide to refund, I would submit a ticket.

Also, its not necessary to give people a hard time over how they react to a change in the game they paid for. Just because your line in the sand is in a different place doesn't mean that how someone else feels is invalid.

Oddly the incoming changes were announced last year in a thread that was pinned until the actual pending changes were announced.

Fine. Since you actually made an attempt to answer me I will tell you what has turned me.

My main is a Bosmer, and it is kind of a continuation of the character I played in Skyrim.

Back before the justice system, back before thieves guild and assassins guild, back before champion points. I rolled a NB bosmer for PvE. (I am not a PvP fan, I tolerate it, but I don't willingly do it unless I have an ulterior motive.)

I rolled a bosmer because I like the sneaky-sniper playstile in PvE. It's my favorite questing style. And in the 5 years I have been playing my bosmer I have developed an emotional attachment to my character. I have collected every sky shard in the game, I have maxed all my professions. My bosmer is my true main.

Right now on the PTS bosmer's lose their stealth and bonus damage from stealth. It is being replaced with a stealth detect and a roll/speed/dps buff which is pretty complicated to explain.

The bonus damage from stealth loss is annoying but I can live with it. Shooting another light attack should make up the dps, so who cares?

The roll/speed/dps boost is so clumsy and situational it might as well not exist, but again fine. Once combat began I was no longer in stealth and since I won't be rolling for a dps buff it just turns into the same useless dps bonus to me.

But the stealth detect.... That is something that is really infuriating. It is a profound reason why I love bosmers, their use of stealth. And to replace it with a stealth detect, which can only be used in PvP and is kind of useless to the point of it is just infuriating.

Since I won't be using the stealth detect in PvE and the roll is kind of pointless. There really is not even a reason for me to put a point into this "passive" at all as I will have no use for it. So why play a bosmer?

But the worst part is that no much how we tried to make the developers understand that we wanted the stealth put back, the developers basically said "We hear you, but we don't care."

If I want to maintain my play style I can switch to a kahjit (who keeps their stealth), but they look so different then bosmers I just can't pull the trigger on that solution. Not that I don't like kahjits its just that it feels like I would have a totally different character then I have played for the last five years. Like I totally erased my bosmer and I am playing someone else's account. I just don't have any desire to do it.

So I have to look at the options of just moving on from this game and playing something else.

1. All current meta races would become suboptimal
2. The changes would violate basic tenets of the lore

Ok some changes dont make sense but lets not get [snip] here, you get 3 race change tokes anyways so just change the race to whatever is best after the patch for up to 3 characters. Alot of the race passive changes were actually good

Yes. But it feels like I am losing my character and playing someone elses account. I am just not into it.

I get it. I have had to put aside a few characters, and I know a ton of other people that lost their mains through the years as well. mDK's are kind of meh and I was not happy at all about the limp noodle she became, but I stuck with her for a long time anyways just being stubborn. I luckily and quite accidentally ended up with a new main, my 3rd so far, with my drunken zombie Bosmer stam sorc for PvP. She is hilarious to play, and I've had a lot of fun with her. My first main is still the one that does all of the content, my Bosmer stam DK. But she isn't super exciting, she isn't nearly the best, so she mostly does crafting stuff these days.

You know why I have so many characters? Because of this situation right here. Because at any time I might need to switch to something else if my current main becomes not viable or I'm just miserable playing it because of changes. And I wanted to be prepared in advance and not have to level a new character at the last minute. That is how I deal with the constant chance that my character could become horrid for any number of reasons. And i also get attached to my characters, so just changing the race is kind of a whole ordeal for me.

It's the opposite for me, I was thinking of rolling (no pun intended) a bosmer for the first time because of the roll dodge deal. I roll all the time in pve, esp soloing dungeons.

Roll dodge is something else I can't reliably do with my ping. Good thing my Bosmer aren't deeply into stealth etc.

I get it. I have 13 max level characters. But the hit to bosmers just took a lot of the wind out of my sails. I am glad you can keep going, but I just don't have the energy for it.

For me the whole roll dodge thing is kind of silly, since you generally roll dodge to get away from something, going immediately into an attack doesn't make sense to me. I know I've made multiple snarky comments about it already, but I just cannot wrap my mind around why I would roll dodge into a zerg, which is what I would apparently be doing given the content I'm mostly obsessed with right now.

BlueRaven is playing the game mostly for Immersion, RP, and PvE / questing reasons.

This is one of the few scenarios where I think people can legitimately be upset with the racial changes.

From a PvP perspective they’re great, and I love them, but it is a shame that some people are being negatively affected on something that they’ve spent a lot of time on.

Yeah. And you can roll dodge off a castle wall, or behind an obstruction, or into a aoe, or out of a aoe heal. It really does not make a sense to do it.

My main is an Altmer. I made him such due to them being, lore wise and game play wise, the kings of Magicka. Now Altmer racials are being changed to the point that they are the worst Magicka DPS. Well, my Altmer Sorcerer is STAYING an Altmer Sorcerer because to me Altmer = Magic = Sorcerer.

The game is fun. Elsweyr looks awesome. There is no way I'm going to stop playing just because of a racial nerf to my main. I will adapt instead and keep playing and having fun.

Huh? Its a few % difference. With most getting a buff. Nothing is getting changed that makes it so u even need to change race. Have you even looked at the numbers?

Greetings,

It is understandable that players so invested in their characters would be upset about certain changes. What may be good for some may not be good for others. Everyone should be allowed to play their character as they so wish. One player could use a bosmer for a stealth NB, while another uses their bosmer as a stam DK tank (yes I have seen it).

However this does not answer the initial point of this thread. As a few members have mentioned, the only way to find out if you may be able to receive your requested refund, would be to submit a support ticket. As a Forum Moderator, I do not have the answer to this specific question. That is something more for our Support Team.

As OP has already submit a support ticket, and requested this thread be closed do to a handful of posts that have been removed, we shall keep this thread closed to avoid any further problems. In the future, when creating posts/threads, we ask that they be kept civil, constructive, and within the rules that we have in place.
