Should I break down all my raw materials?

G'day guys,

I have found myself with 400+ of each of the starting materials and I'm wondering if I should break them all down now. I was waiting until I had each of my crafts with points into extraction to increase my odds of getting goodies but it seems I'm running out of inventory space before I'm getting to those levels with my craft.

Also if I do break them all down is it better to do it with my highest level character or doesn't that not make a difference.

Thanks for any help.

You could also sell excess. The unrefined version used to go for up to twice the value before Craglorn (because they might drop the rarer stuff). Not sure how it is now.

You could also make a Mule Character (or 4) and use http://www.esoui.com/downloads/info230-VicstersInventoryInsight.html to keep track how much stock you have split across characters.
Elana Peterson (EU), Dominion, Imperial Sorc, Rune & Alchemy Crafting Char
Leonida Peterson (EU), Daggerfall, Kajiit Nightblade, Tank & main Crafter
Kurga Peterson (EU), Ebonhart, Ork Dragonknight, Provision Mule
Coldblood Peterson (EU) Argonian Templer, Daggerfall, Healer
Incendia Peterson (EU), Dominion, Dunmer Dragonknight, fire DPS & healer
Haldor Belendor (EU), Ebonhart, Breton Sorcerer, Tank
Fuliminictus Peterson (EU), Ebonhart, Altmer Sorcerer, Electric DPS

a stack of raw jute will generally return 1 lining. similarly a stack of raw maple/iron will return their purple upgrade material. add in a couple of hemming/embriodery and the stack of finished product and you'll make more money selling off the stuff after refining than you ever would selling the raw mats.

If you have a character with skillpoints in extraction, that is the character I would use. You won't get any experience points for refining the mats.

Refine it all, make a bunch of junk with it to sell at the vendor. You'll get lots of XP for crafting the stuff.

That's what you want, to get all your crafting to rank 50. Who cares about spending skill points right now. You'll have more than enough time for that if you keep playing this game.

So if I could find someone with 3 points into extraction to break down all my materials then send it back that would be my best option?

Yeah, that would work well if you know someone you can trust to do that and not screw you over by keeping the good stuff.

If you don't have enough xp in the crafting to unlock the ability to put a skill point in the slot to get extra goodies back, just refine it all now and make a bunch of junk to sell to the vendors. You can always gather more mats. At this point, it sounds like it's more important to level your crafting skill than trying to find someone you trust to break it down for you. Also, don't forget to break down EVERYTHING that you don't plan to research- this is another fast way to level up your crafting skill. Break down the white items too- levels crafting and is a source of free mats.

Roll and alt and store on alt, buy them a few upgrades and problem solved. I would wait until you have 3 points in extraction. I wouldn't sell the mats unrefined unless you charge a lot more because people will make a very lot on averages of about 2 purples and maybe a legendary from 1 stack of ore or wood/cloth. If you do refine then sell each stack, not to a vendor as suggested but in the guild store or via WTS in zone chat. If you want a quick sale then charge 600 per stack of refined ore and if not then charge 800. Of course the price will rise has mat quality increases but vendoring will only ever get you 400g.

If you are on the EU server then I could do all your mats for you but its a trust thing. I can say without twitching that I'm trustworthy but of course you never do actually know a person. I do charge a small percentage but none would be purple or yellows, just ore/wood or cloth. If you want then PM or say your character Name in here and I'll message you in game.

nah no need, sell it with massive numbers and will be rich in no time.
History, like a human being, is thirsty when it wakes from its slumber…History wants to drink up an enormous amount of blood. And even if history has tired of drinking blood, that’s only in regards to the amount. But what about quality? The larger the sacrifice is, the more delighted the cruel gods will be.
