dmg/heal issues.

hi there, i want to address a few ideas, about heals in general, i had after playing this game for a while now.
english is not my birth language but i hope you'll understand me well.

as it is now, there is no particular stat that improves healings/shields only. healing efficiency relies on magicka/stamina/spell or weapon damage.
this allows us to do both dmg and heal without specialising ourself in one or the other direction, but it also caused the recent nerf/adjustments of last patches.

my idea is:
-introduce to the game a "healing power" stat.

-this stat will only affect group healing and shields at friendly target
-self part of healing/shield will stay as it is.

i think, self sustain is to much needed in the game both in pvp and pve (vCR / vMA) to be nerfed.

this could take time to be implemented and many sets will have to be adjusted but it could help to make healers more needed and rewarded for their skill as player than ever before.

we can see in Battle Ground heal/dmg stat that only healing done to others are show in the "heal" line, self heals arent, neither are shields of any kind. this means that group healing and self healing are already two different thing in the game's code.

of course such a change will be a nerf for many ppl who used to deal great dmg and help their team to survive like magblades used to do. i think they've been adjusted in the wrong way tbh.
i hope this will also look much more fair to ppl who have dedicated their time to pure healing.

what do you think?

Specialization is determined by one's passives, stats, traits, sets, CP, mundus, etc.

Ex: When someone is starting out they might use Julianos for their healer or DPS, but later on if they want to have a more focused character they might starts using support oriented sets like Olorime while their DPS build might use War Maiden. They might even have their CP purely specced for heals or damage rather than balancing both.

Three people can have the same skills equipped on the same class, but due to all the factors that I mentioned earlier their damage and heals will be significantly different from one another. One might have great damage and barely decent heals, one might have great heals and barely decent damage, and one might be well-rounded. If someone appears to have great heals and great damage there will probably have been ways to make their build even more focused on damage or healing without changing any skills (one should also keep in mind the amount of resources one is wasting).

Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

Adding ideas with out justification is pretty much empty words.

If you want real and actual feedback on your "ideas" offer a reason why. Otherwise it just sounds like you are struggling at the game and want things adjusted so you can play it easier.

Just offering what feedback can be offered on what is provided.

Edit; see, I read we need a healing power stat and that seems to be a statement out of left field with no meaning. Lets do this because I want it that way. Please do not reply to this single item thinking it fixes the entire OP>

thanks for the answer and i dont struggle with the game at all.

things is that devs once asked ppl how heal could be enhanced, or what could be done for it. this is the "why".

a agree with the main line, still this is something i'll call "super spec", when a player uses an Olorime's stuff, while the other uses a war maiden, the healing power is roughly the same. olorime doesnt buff heal, it buff others damage.

here is my concern about actual heals. someone with 0 healing oriented CP or Stuff can still perform enough at healing to clear almost the entire game. (not vCR nor vBRP i guess. or it just havent been done yet...)

also, 0healer runs in 4ppl's group is still doable.

i dont want to have to take a healer everywhere and struggle when not having one by my side but still. healing is a concern.

and please, stop attacking me personaly. i dont need to l2p, i'm not a complaining bg meatbag, i'm not a frustrated healer who tries to find his way on earth or whatever, i'm just talking about something that looks important to me and that can be important to others.

Strongly recommend against this idea. Spell power fueling both damage and heals is what makes healers fun. My healer can do enough dps to help pugs who need it but she will never be a real dps. Powered trait on weapons, CP set up focused to optimize healing, Earthgore, Seducers, Resto staff, both bars nearly full of support skills. . . . On the other hand, dps characters cannot hope to generate the healing power that my healer can.

If you divorce spell power from healing, you will render healers tedious to play (can't heal a foe to death). Tedious to play is why there is such a shortage of tanks (can't taunt a foe to death). So it seems reasonable that if you divorce spell power from healing, one unintended consequence would be that the shortage of healers would get as bad as the shortage of tanks.

    Please, no.

The statement without meaning is not providing effective feedback. It started in a vacuum, that you just unsealed, but it still lacks context.

Further, we already have means to enhance healing specifically and every true healer utilizes it. It is called blessed, which increases ones healing done.

Every magicka based player makes a choice in CP between putting points into elemental and magicka damage or heals, or split between the two to some degree.

Additionally, heals are already very strong in this game. Adding a new power, or splitting what we already have in gear, for healing is not really needed. In fact Zos has taken steps in the past two years to decrease boosts to heals.

Your suggestion that a healer would be more effective healing others than themselves does not make sense either. The most important person a healer needs to keep alive is themselves. No one else is more important.

Edit: In other words, you have not explained how healing will benefit from this but have done a great job detailing how it will become worse.

that stat i'd like to be added is a "healing power" stat in line with spell damage and weapon damage. to calculate heals. not something to take a look at at the end of a bg or on a combat-metrix like addon.

healing spells would scale with "healing power" + magicka/stamina for vigor perhaps (only when healing others, not for self eals)
damaging magicka spells => scale with spell damage and magicka
damaging stamina spells => scale with weapon damage and stamina

I think you are misunderstanding what they are referring to. In this game there are ways to boost healing taken and healing done, which is not specifically related to one's resource used and damage stat.

    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours).
My templar will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

meh. i know well about those buff, thanks.

still that high end players doesnt need those buffs at all and this is the reason why healer's trial set gives a dmg reduction buff (i.e. minor aegis) and dmg increase to the team instead of any healing increase.

we can have life back from so many sources that boost healing isnt necessary and trial healing sets gives buff instead of more healing.

anyway, it seems i cant get myself understood >.>

thanks for answers, see you i game =)

There are sets that increase healing done. Healers Habit is one of them and can be farmed in DSA (weapons drop in normal and vet) and is BoE so you can find them at guild traders. Sanctuary is another set that increases healing but increasing healing received by the group vs healing done.

There are some other sets, iirc, some monster sets that increase healing done.

However, when healing in a raid it is good to have an assortment of sets. Any semi-serious raid group will prefer specific sets be worn.
